Interesting about Lindor, I figured the Indians would have traded him this winter. Maybe they hold onto him for part of the season and put him on the market again by the trade deadline.

With an extra year of control, their FO is betting that his value will be higher towards the deadline, while giving them the flexibility to see if they're contenders for the Playoffs. Also, Dolan wants to do this:

You dont want BOS to try and keep Betts?

2020 is his last contract year. He's UFA next year.

If I'm a Red Sox fan, I absolutely want the team to deal Betts. Whether it's in a package with Eovaldi or Price to dump payroll, or for the best prospect package I can get. Probably lean more towards dumping payroll.

Betts has been clear about wanting to go to free agency and I dont see the Sox competing in that division.

If their pitching staff can get back to 2018 levels (yes/no/maybe....) I think they have a roster that can compete / get into the playoffs. 2019 was a year with compounding negative issues.

Sounds like their new CEO (Bloom) has a mandate to pare down $$$ while remaining competitive and Betts would be a big piece to move. We'll see.

Theres a reason a couple of TBRays executives are running things in LA and BOS. Talent evaluation & development at a good price with an elevated budget.

gross.

disgusting actually imo

would be so livid if I was a sox fan. you don't trade one of the best all around players in baseball just to shed salary.

that said, trading him is not the worst idea. still would be dumb though. Hes 27, not 31. big difference

Red Sox, Mookie Betts avoid arbitration with a 1-year, $27 million deal, breaking Nolan Arenado's record of $26 million in 2019.

Didn’t Boston try to offer him like a 8yr 200 mil last offseason(or 2 years ago?) if I remember correctly and he said no
