The Dodgers get criticized for being conservative in FA but where’s the guaranteed upgrade?

OF: Verdugo - Pederson - Pollock/Taylor

1B: Bellinger 2B: Muncy SS: Seager 3B: Turner

C: Smith (Ruiz soon)

You could really only argue giving up the farm for Cole but they’re pretty solid there too...

Kershaw

Theres no excuse for Will Smith, Drew Pomeranz, and Dellin Betances to not be in Dodger Blue.

Meant signing him.  He’s a Cali kid after all.

Forgot about the bullpen.  Betances/Smith would’ve been nice instead of that cash for Pollock...

If Seager is fully back healthy it’s like adding a star FA.

Major League Baseball has issued Domingo German an 81-game suspension for violating the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence policy. The first 18 days were served while on administrative leave, so he will miss 63 games in 2020. German's ban is the longest levied by MLB under its domestic violence policy for a player who was not formally charged.

https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-mookie-betts-francisco-lindor-rumors

According to MLB.com's Jon Morosi, the Dodgers are at least as involved in Mookie Betts talks with Boston as they are with Francisco Lindor talks with the Indians at the moment.

Morosi says that's because the Indians are holding out for Gavin Lux in a Lindor deal, while the Red Sox have other priorities, most notably shedding David Price's salary. A Betts-Price trade with the Dodgers would probably net the Red Sox a couple of quality youngsters, but it wouldn't involve Lux. At this point, there's no good reason for the Red Sox to package Betts and Price, other than to line the pockets of John Henry and company. Maybe they could have used the saving on free agents earlier this winter, but the pickings are rather slim now.

The Mets are shopping a package of Jed Lowrie and Dom Smith in trade talks.

The Mets owe Lowrie $10 million for the 2020 season and would like to unload that commitment if possible. Smith is out of options and doesn't have a clear path to a roster slot. The soon-to-be 36-year-old Lowrie missed all but nine games of the 2019 season. His trade value is likely under water given his health status and expensive contract. Packaging him with Smith could entice another team to take Lowrie's contract and send something of value to the Mets. The Athletics are rumored to have interest in a reunion with Lowrie, who played five seasons with the A's. Lowrie had a career year in 2018 when he delivered a .267 batting average with 23 home runs, 99 RBI and 78 runs scored.

I know Smith did well last season, but it was less than 200 PA's and he's pretty much regulated to first base. Not exactly sure how much of a return they can expect.
