Perhaps people are just getting to a breaking point with the stress at this point then.  I actually had my last psychiatrist visit over the phone, but I am really easy.  I have been dealing with this for over 20 years, the pills are working right now, don't need a change, just re-up it.

I think your wife is at the opposite spectrum from my dad.  He just doesn't care.  Luckily he lives in a place where there are very few cases.

For sure.  Our house gets dusted and vacuumed every day.  Counters are santized every day.  And that is pre-Covid.  That is just her being her.

As a husband, there are much worse things to deal with in a spouse!

I'm much more laid back in regards to housework.  I let things get messy before I clean them.  She cleans before things get messy.

But...I do vacuum every day and I am much more aware of cleaning up even more after I'm done cooking, just to make things easier for her.  I can't clean up to her standard, but I do try and it makes things easier on her.

But this pandemic has kind of heightened her cleanliness streak.  And it does freak her out to go out into the public.  But that is just her in regards to the virus.

The numbers that I see on Telephonic Health utilization is pretty staggering.  It is almost 50% virus stuff and 50% mental health.  I have no doubt it is cabin fever.  People want to get back to their "normal", though many also want to be safe.  Tough spot to be in.

We aren't people who hang out at bars, but we do like to eat out and my wife loves in-person shopping.  So this is taking a toll on her.  Luckily, though, we are still working, still getting paid and without driving or shopping, we have a ton more cash.  Which means I've been buying more fishing baits and I think I've now sunk about $400 into our lawn, along with a ton of hours on the lawn.  Covid things....  :)

Who's advocating for a willy nilly opening though? Obviously we can't act like it's February, but small business owners can no longer afford to be told they must be closed. It's up to us now. Here in WI I can tell you of the probably 50 bars and restaurants I follow on Facebook, maybe 2-3 have opened. The rest are in a planning and training phase.

Nobody. Did my comment imply I was?
Note to self: gotta be careful with your word choices around here......

Not enough people trust the free market and the power of the consumer. The consumer consumes where they experience comfort and enjoyment. The standards of comfort or enjoyment are always changing. Right now the consumer is going to want to feel like there isn't a great risk of getting the virus in your establishment. If your packing them in nuts to butts like you used to before the pandemic, a lot of your customer base is not going to return. Sure you'll have a small percentage that won't care, but you don't sustain a business on small percentage. Gyms, theatres, bowling alleys, retail, it will all be the same.

Well here's the thing......nobody knows for certain where that "density" fine line is exactly....but its been proven that density leads to increased transmissions and if you're saying "rely on the marketplace" to find that line........w/o any restriction of guidance (you know, like those "lying CDC" guidelines).....we'll...it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

The government doesn't need to dictate to business how it should behave, the consumers will do so.

Well yes and no. It's concerning that the consequence of not remaining vigilant in our (note the use of the collective "our") handling and approaches to reopening will could result in a similar shut down - or a Phase II type shutdown where knowledge gained from the first go 'round can be applied to the second......perhaps.

Regardless the cost is HUGE to the country as a whole - so the government (read: where the money's at....) does have a say in how things get handled cause thats where the money to keep people and businesses afloat will have to come from.....in that more "Socialistic" world of course. Pure Capitalism (?) with no government interceding?

"Bankruptcy is your friend"

Besides that - it's my belief at least - that government does have an interest and stake in protecting people.

Cuomo lied like hell lol.

Made a giant production of being quarantined and his emergence only to get made to look like a giant doofus when the video of him getting into the altercation with the pedestrian on his bike surfaced.

I'm not sure any of this is true.

Thought came to me in re-reading your comment that I wanted to pass on in support of the above.

Home Depot

I'm a fairly frequent visitor of HD and Lowes. Well, about a month ago I ran over there for a quick pick me up - only to learn the store has implemented a new procedure (which they thought logical but was dumb as **** IMO) whereby EVERYBODY needed to enter the store via one door - so they could (supposedly.....) maintain (and not exceed) a customer count inside the store.

So - the result: a mass of people were all cramming together in a line to get in - then - once inside, I needed to navigate thru a MASS of people to get to where I needed to go. Social distancing? Yeah, sure. Like a crowded outdoor market in New Delhi - and this was pre "wear a mask" time.

Needless to say, I've not been back.

So - your "market forces" concept applied to a real life circumstance  -  STILL  - there was that jammed packed crowd in there........
So - I'm not so sure "the people" will (always....) collectively make prudent decisions....but hope springs eternal.

There is some sense in that, but it depends on implementation. One entry in, with the queue outside encouraged by signs and the store policing it to operate within social distancing guidelines is fine. Also the store should be operating a one-in, one out policy. Inside the store there should (as far as possible) a re-routing of customers so they all go around the store one way, the same way, until they get to the checkout. That minimises the risk as far as possible. None of this is stupid, it's what happens at the supermarket I visit. The devil is in the details, in this case the implementation part. It also depends to a considerable degree on cooperation of customers to be civil and patient,  and to not abandon distancing as soon as they enter the store.

so - if "opening up" occurs in a willy-nilly fashion - we stand to return from whence we came.

Can you have a 'nilly' without a 'willy' These are the kind questions that demand answers...... :D

There’s no video of him on a bike. The story isn’t even true.

The story is some guy on Easter I believe, was biking and saw Cuomo outside with his family. The biker confronted Cuomo and Cuomo fired back .
here is a statement from a CNN spokesperson

In a statement, a CNN spokeswoman denied Whelan's story.

"Chris has said emphatically that this has never happened," the statement said. "Chris was following all social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask in his own backyard with his immediate family members. A complete stranger approached them from their own private driveway, in order to curse at Chris in front of his wife and children."

So @AlexGreen#20 and others are peddling crazy conspiracy theories out there absent of any facts.

The procedure's HD had in place were stupid and totally counterproductive to maintaining their customer's health. Because of the "one door" concepts they were implementing, they jammed everybody together on the outside - and - by pouring everybody in through one entrance (and similarly one bank of check out registers / exit door) they insured a crowd effect of people crawling all over each other would take place inside. Social distancing was tossed out the window entirely. I made zero sense.

Are people really defending the honor of Fredo Cuomo?

That is a hilarious insult and an embarrassing response by Chris ha. I laughed pretty hard at that.

The "faking having COVID" and "looking like a doofus when video of him surfaced" appears to be utter nonsense, however. In an attempt to discredit a chart that was in a picture behind him lol.

No. Nilly cannot stand alone.  It's always accompanied by Willy and Mr. Hyphen :)

You're right, there is no video.

But what's more realistic, Cuomo was outside with his family, not wearing a mask and doing regular family **** like everybody on earth had been doing.

Or that Cuomo was standing rigidly on his own front lawn 6 feet apart from his family. Cuomo's own attacks on the dude pretty much paint the picture.

Minimally he was outside of his mansion rather than being locked in his basement for weeks like his own story implied.

As an "Italian American" I can immediately think of 4 worse things to be called than "Fredo."

He said he had a mask on. We don’t know the story, but to say he lied about he, his wife and kid having Corona isn’t right.
