Hopefully the Nylander deal didn’t mess things up too badly.

The good thing is, either Nylander or Marner (particularly the latter) would command a ransom in trade that could set the team up unbelievably well long term if they are wise with their draft selections and players they are getting back. They could really set themselves up well for long term success with really high priced top end guys like JT and Matthews, and then highly productive ELC guys.

Will be very interesting to see what plays out with this team the next year or two especially on the Mariner front.

Matthews gave up a bit of salary but becomes a free agent at 26. The contract is over 90% signing bonus which means that money is protected from work stoppage or buyout. The Leafs are leading the league in money for their tip 2 centres. For a 5 year deal the contract looks about right.
flyers0909
Nice trade for the Devils, they get a 2nd rounder in 19 for Brian Boyle. I certainly like that return if I'm the Flyers looking to trade Simmonds.

But still, glad to see the Devils get a nice return like that on Boyle.

diehardlionfan
The sad thing about that list is there aren’t many players I would want back. The best part would be the cap space and Petry.
Blazer026
So were 2 points out of the Wild Card, and 3 points out of last place. Western Conference is wack.
Josepho
This has got to be the funnest wildcard race in recent memory. I think the Blues will take one of the spots but I'm really not sure of who'll get the other one.

flyers0909
Based on a gif let's see if anyone can guess how in the world this wasn't a goal.
MNPackfan32
Wild massively screwed up with Nino. That was obvious the second I saw that trade. Rask is a clown. Now unloading Coyle? That I love. Dude is soft. On top of that, he really isn't good. Maybe Ryan Donato doesn't become anything here, but at least Coyle is finally gone ✌️✌️
