I mean, in principle, sure.  But in practice (based off what we've seen from him over and over again), he'll go the nepotism route and hire another barely-was or hasn't-ever-been guy with ties to the coaching tree he's in, rather than do what he should do and look at who the coordinators are that have repeatedly whipped his butt and use that as a litmus test to judge that they and their assistants likely at least have base-minimum idea of what they're doing.

Legitimately, the Raiders best hope might be that the Falcons clean house and they can get their hands on Raheem Morris - but even then I'd have my doubts that Gruden could put his ego aside and hire the guy who took over for him after he was fired midseason in Tampa.

BTW, didn't I read that Gruden plans to hire Wade Phillips? I mean, Wade isn't the best DC in the NFL, but he ought to get that defense to middle of the pack.

Okay. I imagine scoring the TD and leaving the Dolphins with 1 min. left to score a TD would be a worse probability than what's displayed here but I digress.

That’s honestly crazy if true. I mean if that’s 99.99% then what is 29-23 with no time outs and length of the field to go? Lol

I'd rather give a team with 0 TOs 1 minute to score a TD (to tie or win) than give them 20 seconds to score 3 to win.

Wade's recent defenses have skyrocketed to among the best year one or two and slowly declined afterward.

Wouldn't be a bad hire if you want a quick turnaround.

For a year, at least.  Wade doesn't adjust - we saw that firsthand, and have little reason to believe that's changed.  Maybe that gets the most out of certain players they've invested in recently, but at least half their defense personnel is questionable as far as a fit in Wade's scheme - and for several of them that's assuming they revert to 2019 form, which we haven't seen the sample-size to suggest they can do.

100% id like to see the stats on how many times each situation played out, the FG situation has to have had happened a TON more times. Like hundreds more times

Our defense was middle of the pack basically his entire tenure. But the Raiders don't need elite. They need competent. I expect if they get a middle of the pack defense, they're in the playoffs.
