CP3MVP
Like among the fanbase? For example among pats fans it’s 2007 versus 2004. The 04 team was one of the most complete teams ever and the won the ring but the 2007 team is the 2007 team.
AlexGreen#20
No You don't really have it among teams whose best teams happened 30 years apart. For the Packers it's 1996, but comparing any of those teams to the Lombardi era teams just doesn't make any sense.

Not that it's that bold, but that team was utterly ridiculous.
ET80
Not really, that 2012 team with Andre Johnson, Arian Foster, Duane Brown and JJ Watt at the start of his career was/is the benchmark.

For the Colts there is always a debate about whether the 2005 or 2007 team was the best, which is ironic given that both of these teams got bounced in the divisional while the 2006 team in between won the Super Bowl with the worst run defence in NFL history. Matts4313
A tiny one. 92, 93 or 95 (superbowl years). Most lean 95 due to Deion. But according to the metrics the 92 team is like the 4th greatest team in NFL history. I think the Redskins have #1. Yes they can, because that 2007 Pats team wins the super bowl 99% of the time IMO. Not all champions are created equal.
Superman(DH23)
85 Bears are 8n the debate as best team ever, so no.

Those 90s Dallas teams don't even crack the top 20 in DVOA, but 92 Dallas is above 95 Dallas as you point out. 93 team is a distant 3rd. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2020/historical-dvoa-estimates-revisited. incognito_man
It's striking how good that Seattle team was 2012-2015. Might be the greatest team stretch in NFL history.

No they're two related but very distinct things. 'Greatest' is a measure of greatness, which is a matter of legacy and accomplishments, as opposed to 'best' which would simply describe quality.

Interesting. I swear I read a list that based on metrics the 92 team was top 5. Guess I was wrong.
August4th
I've seen some old school steeler fans/media swear the 76 steelers were the best team in that era. better than all 4 of the teams that won a SB. Injuries in the playoffs derailed them
