Player rankings are different. That was a quote on how he feels about KJ ability. Totally different

Mayock also thought highly of Abram, Ferrell, and Arnette in the draft process as well. How's that working out so far?

Everyone read this thread please.

Is Gus Bradley a miracle worker? His defense was great in Seattle but it helps when you have a first ballot HOF CB taking away half the field and a first ballot HOF FS that thrives in single high.

Earl Thomas is one of the greatest safeties in the history of the NFL. Joseph has been drafted over, lost his starting job in two places, and two teams have let him walk in free agency the last two years with major holes at the position.

And sadly, he still might be better than Abram.

Although, like others, still holding out hope for Abram and he should start the season

The reality is we let Joseph walk in free agency last year and he lost his starting job in 2020 with the Browns who also let him walk in free agency.

In single high you have to have range to cover the entire back end of the field. Joseph has never shown that ability in the NFL.

That's great that he had an interception against Dwayne Haskins, a guy that got cut as a former 1st round pick in his 2nd year on a team in the playoff hunt. And that he made some plays 6 years ago in the Big 12. But he has never shown to be great in coverage in the NFL.

Yeah but again what were we asking him to do last time he was here? Cover TEs. Imagine if Earl Thomas was covering TEs for most of his career.

The thing to Take into account as he was drafted by an administration that was no longer there which means they had no plans or ties to him. So when you're coming in trying to implement a scheme(As trash as the scheme was) It's not really important who your first round picks were from before. That's the sheer fact that under a new defensive coordinator, they brought back somebody that they well that walk a year ago Under a previous defensive coordinator Implies that Gus Bradley see's something that he likes. It also implies that he is a better fit for Gruden/Mayock think he's a better fit for Bradley than he was for Paul Gunther.

I think this is also a similar To the idea that nelson Agholor couldn't play outside because he had played slot his entire career Under to different coaching staffs  (one that drafted him The other being a Super Bowl coaching staff).

Now you're just bringing in anything to further prove your point. But since you want to do this. Mayock also loved Mack and had his rated higher instead of Clowney that year. Had Kamara rated as a first round pick. Chandler Jones who he had as a top 10 player. People hit and miss on players every GM does. Doesn't change thats how he felt about KJ ability. Does it make it true? no, but its how he viewed him which is significant.

We asked him to play in the box just like the Browns did last season. If he was great in coverage why hasn't he ever played FS?

The safety market has dried up. Mayock drafted Abram in the 1st round and literally all of our free agent signings have been busts. Based on how our defense has performed and the players that we've signed/drafted under Gruden, you're confident in our personnel decision making?

You didn't read it did you? It's talking about simplifying player responsibilities and allowing them to play faster. Which is a big change from Guenther's convoluted scheme.

All of those personnel decisions were made under the assumption that Paul Gunther knew what to do with them. That's A key component to each signing and draft pick. That's also worth noting that Paul Gunther Had never coached a defense with a player younger than 24 as a starter And when he took over most of the starters were already starters prior to him taking over the Defense.

I tend to have more trust in someone who's worked with young players and players who have been miscasts on other teams something Gus Bradley has done. So when they make a decision to get who he wants I see it differently than when they make decisions to get who Paul Gunther wants.

How well has Mayock drafted since he has gotten here? How well have our free agent signings worked out? We just had the worst defense in the history of the franchise despite spending early picks on Ferrell, Abram, Arnette, and Mullen as well as overpaying for Littleton, Kwit, Joyner, Nassib, and Collins.

LOL Who made those players HOF level type of players?

Cause Richard Sherman was a 5th round pick

Bobby Wagner was a 2nd round pick

Kam Chancellor was a 5th round pick

Only Earl Thomas was a first round pick.

Soooooo maybe he is a miracle worker.

Which is fine. But Joseph has never shown the ability to thrive at FS or in coverage in the NFL.

So now you're bringing in FA signings, please stay on one topic instead of searching for new outs
