Old Guy
Interesting to me that two of the final 4 teams last year got 2 starting offensive lineman in the draft. The Chiefs, like the Packers got a starting center, Creed Humphrey and guard Trey Smith. Guess that is one of the reasons they are near the top, good drafting. You mean Jacksonville drafting a RB in the late 1st was not a good use of their extra 1st??

In fairness it makes sense to draft a RB when you have — *checks notes* — the worst OL in the league.

Yeah, the best thing for a first overall QB of generational like talent is to put him behind a bottom 5 likely OL.....builds character

Was this sarcasm? They could have found a lineman to help them out and their QB. Especially since the RB they chose wasn't really going to be used as a RB. vegas492
To win the NFL, you need a quarterback. For the QB to play well, you need an OL. Trenches, baby, trenches. And we got 'em!
NFLGURU
Probably posted already but the kid looks good. @PFF #Packers Royce Newman this preseason: 91.8 PFF Grade (1st among rookie OL) 42 pass-blocking snaps 0 pressures allowed
DWhitehurst
You have to give credit to Gute for what is looking to be a great draft. To get a starter in Rnd 4 with Newman. I really didn't have high hopes for Newman becoming a starter, especially in his rookie year. Perhaps because I was looking at him as an OT, rather than as an OG. Hit on 4 (that at least make the 53) that's a great draft. To hit on what? At least 6? Stokes, Myers, Rodgers, Newman, Slaton, Hill....That is stellar drafting, especially when your starting draft position is at the bottom of each round. This is may be Gute's best draft, at least in terms of number of draftees making the team.
Old Guy
A dude with that hair deserves a nickname. I'm going with the obvious one, "Rolls" Royce Newman, although Tow Mater seems more appropriate. Edited August 31, 2021 by Old Guy

They don't even have a Center listed on their roster; just a G, two T's, and a bunch of OL all of practically the exact same 6-6 320 mold... Now I just picture Lawrence with nobody in the middle and two guards and two tackles, just yelling hut over and over at a ball laying on the ground. Delay of game into he's at the 1mm line and he retires
incognito_man
I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm, but I'm super stoked for this pick.
