Here’s why Thursday Night Football isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

According to Sports Business Daily, the winning bid submitted by Fox for the NFL’s Thursday Night Football package is worth $550 million a year. The previous deal saw NBC and CBS share the package, which paid the league $450 million a year the last two years.

What I would like to see are the following changes.  Cut back one pre-season game, and start the season a week early.  Then, have two bye weeks, about 1/3 and 2/3s of the way through the season.  These would be staggered of course so all the teams did not have the same weeks off.  Then, have two teams coming off a bye week play on Thursday nights.

The NFL won't make these changes now that the they secured a better deal. Only way anything changes is if the players strike and rework the CBA.

The NFC East became the first division in the NFL with four teams that have won the Super Bowl when the Eagles beat the Patriots last Sunday.

For reference:

AFCN: Bengals and Browns

AFCS: Jaguars, Texans, and Titans

AFCE: Bills

AFCW: Chargers

NFCN: Vikings and Lions

NFCS: Falcons and Panthers

NFCE:

NFCW: Cardinals

We're down to the dirty dozen!!!! :(
