Spotrac -

Kemba Walker to OKC
2021-22: $36M
2022-23: $37.6M player option

Al Horford to BOS
2021-22: $27M
2022-23: $26.5M (1/2 GTD)

Moses Brown to BOS 2 yrs, $3.5M non-g'teed

  • Andrew Brandt -  NBA trades are rarely about talent; more about offloading contracts, usually with added assets (picks) to take on the financial weight.

So stevens is exposing himself as a bad GM early. That’s good.

In what way?

Horford is a plus on Kemba simply for being a lot less expensive.

They got a non-guaranteed contract back

They  made a 2025 second into a 2023 second

and all they had to give up was #16 with a roster full of those type of guys (Pritchet, Carson Edwards, Romeo Langford, Robert Williams, Aaron Nesmith, Grant Williams)

Because adding the 16th pick to swap kemba for horford who is terrible is bad. Are they even going to have cap space after that deal? That’s just gonna be 10M off the luxury tax.

And you think that is not important because??

Horford's contract is infinitely better and they can get out of it next year only half guaranteed. If you don't think thats worth a 16th overall pick on a roster where he would have ZERO playing time then idk what to tell you.

Horford has a buyout in the second year... Horford also isn't terrible. He was playing well in OKC before he got hurt.

Maybe the extra rest will also help Horford going into next season. I expect him to be overpaid, but a solid contributor to Boston next season.

OKC hoping for another veteran reclamation project that turns into more 1sts. First Paul, then Horford, maybe Kemba is next.

OKC has some serious ammo to trade up in this draft now.

Horford was solid this season and the Thunder with the vets were not bad at all. He can still play.

I don't know if the Thunder keep Kemba though. They may trade him to NY or DAL or some other team.

Moses Brown flashed in a few games late in the season. Kind of intrigued with him.
