Payne is cool coming off the bench. Starting is a whole different thing and asking him to play 35 minutes a game

Recency bias is a killer for bad franchises in free agency. Cam Payne was literally in the G-League a year ago and then balled out as a reserve for a finals team. So of course the Knicks are going to pay him to come into a starting role for their team...

Dennis Schroder regretting not taking that 4/84 so bad right now.

He probably needs the Lakers to help facilitate a S&T to a team without cap room at this point.

His agent needs to be on the phone with the Knicks ASAP.

A three-way deal between the Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Chicago Bulls is under consideration, sources confirm. The possibility was first reported by The Athletic. Tomas Satoransky, Lonzo Ball, and DeVonte Graham are among names who have come up, per SNY sources. The possibility of a Bulls-Pelicans deal without the Hornets that would send Ball to the Bulls and Satoransky to the Pelicans has also been under consideration

Pelicans going to really let go of Lonzo for DeVonte Graham? What is you doing baby? @amac @MookieMonstah

The Lakers project to have just the $5 million exception, and still have the free agencies of Alex Caruso and Talen Horton-Tucker to contend with. L.A. is expected to explore sign-and-trade scenarios with Dennis Schröder—who would have to consent—but it’s unclear what the market for Schröder, who rejected a four-year, $84 million extension last spring, will look like. Chicago, Miami and Dallas are among the teams expected to show interest in Schröder, who shot 33.5% from three last season.

Dallas is his only hope now tbh. @TheRealMcCoy @the lone star

Sixers asking for four future firsts and an All-Star for Ben Simmons

This, technically, isn’t about free agency, but it all fits in this time of year. Multiple league sources maintain that Philly’s asking price for Ben Simmons on the eve of free agency remains sky-high.At minimum, the Sixers are seeking control of at least four future first-round picks via direct trade or pick swaps, along with an All-Star-level player in most (but not all) scenarios. Philly has engaged in discussions with teams around the league since mid-July.

Lakers have not ended pursuit of Buddy Hield

From there, league personnel continue to ask where Dennis Schroder will land in this summer’s spending spree. The Los Angeles Lakers hope to net returning talent in a sign-and-trade involving the 27-year-old, and they have not ended their search for ways to land Buddy Hield. However, it appears the Lakers have not been in extensive contact with Schroder and his representatives, sources told Bleacher Report, and the two sides do not seem to be working in tandem ahead of the new league year beginning at 6 p.m. ET Monday. A sign-and-trade requires agreement from both teams and the free agents involved.
