the problem there is that the qbs in question cant be tooo bad

Totally true. Need that sweet spot of not good enough to score too much but not so bad they turn the ball over

Or just some terrible kicking like GB/CIN

Geno Smith single-handedly lost this game for Seattle. He literally walked himself into the sack on 3rd and whatever when they were in FG range, and then in OT tried to scramble when he shouldn't have. But, if you know anything about Geno Smith, that's what you expect from him.

The even more hilarious thing is that for how bad Geno Smith is, Ben Roethlisberger is every bit as bad and this Pittsburgh team struggled to beat an awful Seahawks team with an atrocious defense, no run game, and backup QB.

In fairness, even when Ben was much better, they played down to inferior teams constantly under Tomlin.   We lost to the likes of Bruce Gradkowski, Terrell Pryor, Kyle Orton and Mike Glennon (among others), and they weren't on good teams either.

So, regardless of Ben, playing own to teams like that is par for the course.   :|

as middle of the road as ben is right now, our supposed to be near the top of the league defense (which ultimately did come up very clutch in the overtime period) allowed geno and alex collins to gash them at will in the second half including a pair of long touchdown drives and letting geno dice us to force OT;

not excusing the offense, nor detracting from the defense clutching it when it counted, but it's not as if letting seattle back in to the game was purely the fault of the offense tbh - as @43M said, that's just what we do
