My initial feeling was that things would get better as the first half of their schedule was extremely tough

Then I looked at the rest of their schedule and realized, it really doesn't get much easier lol

Somehow, we play the top 9 teams based on record in the AFC, while we play none of the bottom 6.

Just wait until Mahomes' cap hit goes from $7.4 million to $35.8 and $46.8 million in the next 2 years...gotta love it

Youre presuming that the Chiefs will keep him at that cap hit. He is already in year 2 of his contract but the structure allows them to keep kicking the can. Whose to say they wont just drop his cap hit again next season (through a restructure)?

People get carried away a lot when a player or team gets really hot for awhile and just think it’s going to be a consistent thing.

The Chiefs since 2018 had a great passing offense but always had a holes aside from maybe 2019. 2018 they had an abysmal defense, last year the o line was shallow and couldn’t sustain injuries, this year it was all over the place. Mahomes is an elite QB, but a lot of the Superman stuff was that he had the best TE and WR in the league and he had a good option on most plays. With that being a little more inconsistent, he looks less special

I don't think there's any need to bring personal insults into this.

They'll still compete and they always have a punchers' chance - but the defense is going to cost them in the long run, and there is no quick fix for it because the offense is taking up a lot of resources on the cap.

They'll still make the playoffs and win a playoff game here and there, but they're no longer the apex predator in the AFC.

They just might. Until then though, the fact remains.
