Quite the narrative they're trying to spin here. But the fact TAM FO hasn’t released him and the beat reporter trying to sell that ridiculous narrative suggests maybe we are going to see a Costanza approach attempted here.
pwny
The Bucs and their medical staff certainly are going to have some things to answer for with all of this. This is the third receiving target that they’ve [potentially] done some really questionable things with. They let Gronk play with broken ribs, had Godwin running on the sideline with a torn acl. There’s a lot of reason to not trust the story coming out of AB’s camp that he didn’t want to play and Arians told him to go in or he was no longer a member of the team. But this staff hasn’t exactly treated major injuries with care.
agarcia34
Play stupid games with stupid prizes. Bucs deserve so much criticism for continuing to enable a player that has shown clown like behavior that has shown he only cares about himself. BA after the game saying he doesn’t want to talk about it was ridiculous. No you knew what you were signing up for and you still did it. You should talk about it. You got an easy out with the Vaccine thing and still took him back. Bucs deserve so much criticism for this. BA deserves criticism for this and more then anyone Tom Brady deserves criticism for this. It's not uncommon for players to be able to walk off the field with a torn ACL. At that point, the damage is done, it's more about pain tolerance for the player. From all accounts, Godwin's field test was negative (which doesn't rule out an ACL, and why a MRI needs to be done). But letting him walk or jog off the field isn't uncommon if the player feels OK. And by then, the damage is done, it's not like it made it worse. If he couldn't weight bear and they told him to tough it out on his own, different story, but that's not what happened IIRC. As for Gronk, it depends on whether the rib fractures were displaced, or non-displaced. Displaced fractures are a threat to a player's life, given the risk of a pneumothorax (punctured lung). Most football fractures, though, are non-displaced (a crack but bones remain in place). In those cases, it's literally just a matter of pain tolerance. They can be so devastatingly painful that it knocks a player out for 2-4 weeks, even more so if the cartilage is involved. If Gronk had an x-ray and it didn't show anything obvious (which often happens with non-displaced fractures), it's also a pretty common story to let the guy play (and then show up on a follow-up CT scan). There are definitely cases where team medical staff should be questioned - the Saints and their fiasco with Delvin Breaux, the WFT numerous misses, etc. I'm not sure the Bucs' cases apply here, assuming Gronk's fractures were non-displaced. Lol no cause they win that Super bowl without him. Those 483 yards during the season and the 81 yards in the playoffs really helped the Bucs. The stupid prize is having him embarrass the team and franchise the way he did. Edited January 5, 2022 by agarcia34

They might not even have made the play offs without him, he was very productive down the stretch and in the playoffs, including scoring in the Superbowl. If I were a Tampa fan I would trade AB being an embarrassment for a blowout Superbowl win at home 100%, no question. If you had offered them this exact course of events, from his signing to now, they would have ripped your arm off to get it.

I’m not referring to him walking or jogging off the field after the injury. See the video in the tweet. He came out of the tent and was trying to run sprints on the sideline. He needed to be heading to the MRI machine, not attempting to run sprints with the full extent of the injury unknown, and having him out there doing that is gross negligence. And yes, doing that can increase the severity of the tear and can potentially lead to other ligaments being damaged due to the instability. Ah gotcha, didn't see the post-field footage, only when he went off field. Yeah, sometimes you need to protect the player from themselves. Full sprints....ouch.
