Where do the Patriots go from here?

Would Allen Robinson be too pricey?

18th in cap space with an extra $25.7M coming, money isn't the issue.  Allen Robinson is the exact opposite of what New England needs:  a reliable guy who can get open inside quickly, catch passes thrown at their numbers while in full stride, and head for daylight, like those WRs Mac Jones had in Alabama.  Obviously, they need to replace Agholor;  Meyers and Bourne are marginal, Hunter Henry is fine.  YAC is the #1 priority.  If religious, pray nightly that Jameson Williams is available at #23.  After that, and  in free agency, use every resource to rejuvenate the defense.

Oh, and when faced with the league's #1 DVOA pass defense (11th versus the run) use the league's highest (PFF) rated RB more than 9 times.  Don't get into aerial duels against the likes of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs.  Keep your defense off the field.

Despite their annihilation last night, making the playoffs is arguably a better season than expected for this team with a rookie QB. How do they best ensure Mac's continued progress? Do you foresee another summer of spending, and which areas do they need to address?

And is the defense a major problem or does Josh Allen simply present a major mismatch for their current system?

Josh Allen is a great QB but the Patriots are just old, slow and unathletic on defense.

As far as progress, all things considered 10-7 with a playoff experience is okay the end to the season is not.

The Patriots need new wide receivers, linebackers and cornerbacks.

They won't have a lot of money to work with.

As of right now. So they will need to draft well and hope Mac Jones improves.

Interesting strategy.

We are saying priority 1 is getting more athletic at Linebacker.

an actual WR would be nice though

Gotta rebuild the defense as though you're playing Josh Allen every single week. In other words, get faster at LB and stronger up front. You need at least one, and preferably two rangy LBs in the mold of Darius Leonard, and right now they don't have a single player like that.

The Georgia LB or Kyle Hamilton seems like the most New England pick ever. Some pass rushing ability wouldn’t hurt them either. They’re lacking athleticism and those spots especially help them in divisional play.

Wide receiver has been a glaring need there for a while. I like their OL and TE situation and they get good enough production from their running backs.

Interesting strategy.

People have been talking about needing a receiver literally all season, it's not a reaction to the WC loss.

Pretty much every post in the Patriots sub is about getting younger and faster on defense.
