All very true... I would just like to know exactly what his plans would be to change his offence if that type of thing happens next year...we know how injuries can detail all but the very best offences...we need someone who can overcome these sorts of set backs... The more I look into Kevin Patullo the more I think he could be an ideal fit...seems like he has the right personality and experience to run a side of the ball...from that Chiefs/Colts/Eagles mash up so the system would change but not a crazy amount which could be good for Fields not having to completely forget everything and relearn...Flip might stay on...could be an interest appointment. topwop1
With Flus being hired as HC, Jim Caldwell certainly makes sense now at OC if they want Fields to have some stability for the next few seasons because I can't imagine many teams will be lining up to hire an almost 70 yr old coach for their head position. Caldwell has coached some pretty darn good QBs who can stretch the field vertically with their arm. i.e. Manning & Stafford Other guys I'm interested in are: Pep Hamilton Mike Kafka Wes Phillips Joe Brady Kevin Patullo Edited January 27, 2022 by topwop1
Nads786
Anyone from the Shannhan tree would be great as well. Their running scheme mixed with PA is just perfect for Fields.

He doesn't call plays in San Francisco, so maybe he'd be open to leaving for an actual play calling gig?

I mean Tabor would fit your prerequisites then. Lol. He actually has a small bit of experience as a Head Coach.

I put Kafka 3rd on that list only because he hasn’t called plays. Brady did with Burrow at LSU then at CAR, and Pep did with IND 2013-15. Average first year (Luck’s second season) and then blew up in year 2 (6th in scoring, 3rd in yards). 2015 was bad but Luck missed half the season and they only had a well past prime Hasselbeck. Team Pep here for sure. Edited January 27, 2022 by AZBearsFan

Cut out the BS.....No it isn't lol. Not even close. Being an assistant HC in the same profession while competing with 31 of the best teams in the world with the best players>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Coaching in Canada against 6 teams with couple of has-beens and kids who couldn't hack it. Funny you say this because the current Colts offensive coaching staff under Reich has two former CFL coaches on it ..Scott Milanovich former CFL QB & head coach and Marcus Brady former CFL QB & OC. Are you discrediting these guys just because they coached in the CFL?

Madmike90
I would say Pep makes a lot of sense from being with guys like Herbert & Mills to having more experience than most of these other guys... Kafka has Mahomes on his CV which will also help and means Fields won't be learning a whole new scheme...meatheads will love the fact he is from Chicago as well... Patullo seems like a guy who could really manage that side of the ball and that could be a key reason he is a name to watch...maybe not as QB centric as the other guys but your OC needs to be able to do it all...him with a good QB coach makes a ton of sense... The "Shanahan tree" is interesting at this point because we probably have better pieces to stay away from it right now and go more power based vertical than anything else...truth be told it's what KC have become more and more this season...the other issue is how far down the tree are we having to get to since every year two of three guys are plucked away from it. abstract_thought
Thomas Brown is an Assistant Head Coach for the Rams. He's a RBs coach who has been in the NFL for only 2 years, but he apparently has more head coaching experience than guys who are actual head coaches.
