Interesting for the Eagles this year if the HC had went down with Covid it would have been Kevin Patullo who would have taken on the HC duties...not a coordinator...

Sirianni is really high on this guy...says they are very similar and he used him to bounce ideas off of and takes his opinion...maybe he is just not a guy we have heard of...guess we can only give anyone who is hired a chance and see how it plays out...everything will be new this season...camp will be exciting.

Not my guy, but most of what I’ve read suggests he’s Lovie 2.0. If we get the Lovie Bears with an actual offense that’d be amazing.

That second part, however, is EVERYTHING.

I… don’t hate this for OC. Brady got a super raw deal in CAR. Marinelli wouldn’t thrill me but I’m thinking Eberflus will be the de facto DC anyway. Kevin Mawae is IND’s asst. OL coach and was that here at one point under Nagy. Might we see him take on the OL coach role here?

Didn't think Desai was that bad for a first time DC.  What do you have against him?

I saw more bad than good with him overall and think we could've hired anyone last year and wouldn't have missed a beat. I've went into a bit of detail on this not too long ago.

The reason "why" on defense is not just one single problem (staff vs talent)..... it's an issue with both. But it does seem like it's more staff than talent.

There has certainly been times when good play calling has been ruined by poor play and lack of talent. Burns, Bush and DHC are not starting quality DBs, even though they have had to play those roles, so I'll give Desai the benefit of the doubt here. Tonga is coming along nicely so I'll give him that. The pass rush is up too so I'll give him that as well.

However, things such as; missed tackles, miscommunications, broken coverage's, and literally having the worst defense in the league on 3rd/4th and long are all bad traits that fall on the staff 100%.  When was the last time we have seen these things happen as often as we do now?

The decision to move Vildor from nickel to boundary is 100% on the staff. Changing EJack's role and not maximizing his skill set is 100% on the staff.

And while the pressure is nice.....most of that is coming from Quinn, and claiming Desai deserves credit for Quinn's resurgence is a high reach. Him being healthy this year has played a much a bigger role in his play vs last year than Desai has.  He was a pass rush specialist in 2019 before he got here. He played injured last year and his play declined. Now he is healthy and back playing like he did before. Desai has nothing to do with this. If anything Desai Lucked out with him. Where would this pass rush and defense be without him?

Furthermore, getting pressure means nothing if you can't stop the offense on 3rd/4th and long. Get all the sacks you want but that doesn't mean crap when your defense is so terrible on 3rd/4th downs, and how often have we seen this happen this year?

This defense is bad. Not yet 2015 horrible, but bad nonetheless, and blame the talent all you want but most of problems point towards the staff.

David Kaplan (so take it for what you will) is saying Quinn wanted to be the HC here and we passed him over for Eberflus...I doubt he would lie about that considering how much he wanted Quinn.

I have heard and read that as well.  Once Quinn realized he was out of the running here he decided that he would go back to Dallas.

That is a pretty strong endorsement for Flus…Quinn interviewed after him and really pushed for the job and still Poles went with Flus…that alongside it coming out that the committee preferred the other two candidates and still Poles selected Flus makes me see he is his own man and will do this job with conviction.
