But with any random (even pseudorandom) datasets, you expect some degree of clustering - flipping a coin 10 times typically results in a average of 5 heads, but getting HTHTHTHTHT is incredibly rare (around 0.098%). This is no less true for low-chance occurrences like turnovers in football. And, of course, football has a lot of statistics & a lot of ways to analyze the data - some are bound to have coincidences far weirder than this. Could be other factors at play, too, of course. Even with your players and aggression constant, the opponent's defensive aggression, the attributes of the tackler, the weather of the game, ball skills of the opposing players surrounding the fumble (for fumble recovery) all aren't (among other things). 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
