SemperFeist
If the Vikings walked away with Brandon Scherff and Akeem Hicks as their only significant external FA moves, how would people be feeling?

I'm not sure I'd want anything to do with Scherff, at market value, given his injury history. Hicks I'd be indifferent on. You see him as a 5T or NT if signed? I think he played both in CHI so he'd offer some positional flexibility. Just seems a tad redundant with Pierce and Tomlinson currently on the roster. I'd also be worried about our CBs as @JDBrocks points out.

The contracts would matter. If Scherff stays healthy, the OL is essentially transformed. But injury/playing time incentives would have to be high. Hicks. Meh. I think he’d command more than he’s worth at this stage of his career. Id rather see what Tomlinson and Pierce can do in the 3/4 and use that space on the secondary. Joseph signed with the Vikings last February. He hit 33-of-38 field goals in 2021 along with 36-of-40 extra points. He also sent 81 percent of his kickoffs for touchbacks. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/03/14/vikings-tender-greg-joseph/

PrplChilPill
I'm ok missing out on Scherff, given the injury history.

Let’s just remember this and how much FA OL go for. No sense getting in a bidding war for a 30 yr old with an injury history.
CriminalMind
We can't currently compete for any tier one free agents. Combination, of current available cap, raw MN living (which is generally harder compared to less tax states / warmer climate), winning potential. We are just not seen as a free agent destination for the top tier free agents. James Daniel is my fav, but I believe its a pipe dream. We want to build through the draft and hit in value free agents, right? I just want a solid starting CB in FA. That’s it. Would be happy with Z Smith.
swede700
Interior OL are coming off the board in a hurry, as Saffold is also off the board...to Buffalo. There's lots of OGs in Free Agency, so I'm not overly concerned. The number will come way down after this first flurry.
