NateDawg
The PR nightmare of going soft on a suspension is something the NFL isn’t going to do here. They would rather go strong and have the NFLPA throw a fit and get games tossed down the road then go too limp. The Deshaun situation could really blow up in their face. MWil23
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-confirms-robert-kraft-suspension-fine-could-be-coming-based-on-outcome-of-legal-process/amp/ This stands out: ”Our Personal Conduct Policy applies equally to everyone in the NFL. We will handle this allegation in the same way we would handle any issue under the Policy," the league said in a statement. "We are seeking a full understanding of the facts, while ensuring we do not interfere with an ongoing law enforcement investigation. We will take appropriate action as warranted based on the facts." The Policy was revamped in recent years with a focus on domestic violence and treatment of women, as well as creating an equality in terms of discipline between players, coaches, owners and any employee of the league, essentially across the board. "It is a privilege to be part of the National Football League. Everyone who is part of the league must refrain from 'conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in' the NFL," the policy now states. "This includes owners, coaches, players, other team employees, game officials, and employees of the league office, NFL Films, NFL Network, or any other NFL business." Another note in the NFL's policy points out that owners and management-level figures are "held to a higher standard" and can face "more significant discipline" when violating the Personal Conduct Policy. Excellent point the challenges Deshaun faces. Let's say the nfl says 8 game suspension but says if you have 1 More civil suit 2 years without a appeal They give a suspension that stands without a appeal then they attorneys serve him up. This a no win case this shows the nfl Gave him a chance he failed then he got what was coming plus he would face a uphill battle to get reinstated.

candyman93
I bet the NFL told him to settle to reduce the potential punishment.

It's a legal system not blackmail. Also, it tells me that Watson now believes he may have disrespected a woman in his life and he isn't delusional he just wanted to save as much face as possible.

My point is just that “look they settled, it was only about the money” is just a silly take as money is the only possible positive outcome for them. It was get money vs get nothing, that’s it. He’s not going to be found guilty of any crimes in civil court.

If that is the case he probably can't settle and will just have to be found innocent or guilty in civil court.
