The issue with the Brownies and Baker is that they need to trade him infinitely more than teams need Baker Mayfield. Teams will wait it out. This will drive his price down.

This only works if multiple teams aren't in on him

That's a pretty important fear.

To the young and inexperience sure. To seasoned vets not so much. He's just not a clear upgrade to anyone but the Colts. Is his baggage and future contract worth it? We will find out soon, either  fomo will drive some to do something stupid, or they'll wait it out.

To the NFL. They show it again and again and again when it comes to quarterbacks. Martin Mayhew has 20 years experience in NFL front offices and just jumped all over Wentz even though the talk was that the colts were fine releasing him.

And Baker a considerable upgrade for Seattle. Drew lock is terrible. Doesn't mean they will target him, but Drew lock is just awful

None wants to play for Washington because their toxic owner trickles down to the decisions made on the field. Wentz never would have willingly signed there. That's the only reason. Plus Mayhew is a journeyman and isn't known for making sound decisions, just ask Lion fan.  He will work in multiple other front offices in his career.

So now it's not just about being inexperienced.

Chris Ballard have up a first for Wentz last year.

Jerry Angelo had been around 20 years when he gave up the package for Cutler.

John Dorsey 20 years when trading for Alex Smith.

Etc etc etc

Most execs are journeymen. Schneider has already been a part of the Packers, Seattle, Kansas City and Washington front offices, for example
