Maybe the Eagles/Giants being arguably the biggest rivalry in NFL lore has something to do with not resting starters. Or Daboll will roll the dice, and not have anyone get rusty/complacent. Either way, good for the 49ers getting a chance at the #1 seed. Best a fan can hope for.

CMC's scrimmage stats through week 17, compared to the rest of the NFL:

  • Touches: 316 (4th in NFL)
  • Yards: 1,801 (3rd in NFL)
  • TDs: 12 (5th in NFL)
  • Y/Tch: 5.7 (17th in NFL / 2nd in NFL with 200 touches as the qualifier)

Not a Pro Bowler for some reason, but should be in the conversation for the best non-QB offensive player in the NFL this year.

DAMN, I don't get how he wasn't a Pro Bowler, he led fan voting.

It's a bad look by the NFL. If they made the OPoY award a non-QB award. CMC would have a very good shot at winning it.

He’s single-handedly transformed our offense from a ~20ish in the NFL unit to a ~5ish unit. Amazing. When things go wrong - a missed protection or a penalty or whatever, CMC smooths those bumps out by turning a check down into a first down or a second and long screen into 3rd and short. I was skeptical about him given running back value and his injury history and the haul of picks we gave up. As it turns out however, having a Wes Welker that is a terrific outside zone threat and draws linebackers onto the field instead of tiny corners is really good. And CMC’s cap hit is hilariously small for the value that Shanahan gets out of him. Like, if CMC was a pure running back, it would be about the height of the number he could command, but he just isn’t a running back. He’s a versatile weapon. CMC’s gonna be paid less than half of what we are paying Deebo in 2024+. And while he isn’t the home run hitter healthy Deebo is, he’s been a better underneath route runner and stays in better shape to handle more touches. And we have CMC under contract until 2025, right when he projects to burn out. Just a beautiful team asset. He could definitely have a Marshall Faulk on the Rams run with us. He certainly has so far.

Sounds like Daboll is backtracking now (as he should)...or at least leaving that option open.
