John’s use women who are part of it and literally can’t consent. That’s my point.

I am not meaning to beat a dead horse, but do you think all prostitution involves an inability to consent? I can see trafficked women and those who are with a pimp etc. as having no consent, but what about those who don't? Or do you believe that number is next to none so more an exception to the rule? I'm asking seriously. I've known a few prostitutes--no, not like that--who were just trying to make quick money (akin to often why women do porn) and were consenting, but I have no idea how common or uncommon that is.

I'm personally against prostitution--not saying we should jail people but have an intervention program that actually addresses the issue and protects the woman--but I've been trying to stay somewhat steady to what the law says and not my own beliefs without precedent. I hope that made sense.

All,

Let’s reign back on the talk of prostitution, human trafficking and consent. I clearly have a vested interest in this thread, and I REALLY don’t want it locked - so let’s redirect from here.

How do you think Cleveland does with Jacoby Brissett as the starter for a season? Is there ANY scenario where Baker Mayfield puts on the Browns jersey and plays for Cleveland next season?

In a vacuum if everyone stays healthy, I personally don’t think JB does worse than 2021 Baker.

It’s in everyone’s best interest for Baker to be the starter this year, as they’ll have to eat his salary, he’s familiar with the system, and perhaps healthy he’s somewhere in the median range.

Ironically Baker’s best chance of getting a starting shot this year is Cleveland, and if he performs well he could get a decent contract and starting shot elsewhere next year.

I think both sides have done their best to burn that bridge though and everyone comes out a loser in this situation on that front IMO.

Cleveland is a 8 win team with Brissett. Baker never wears a Browns uniform again.

Best case scenario with Jacoby is 8-9 wins. We’ve been HAMMERED by COVID outbreaks the last 2 seasons. Almost always in late December. Hopefully that doesn’t happen again.

I think Jacoby will have a career year if he starts the full season. Something in the ballpark of 3000+ yards, 23 TDs and like 8 INTs.

Baker is done here and will be a panther.

I agree with the general sentiment that Brissett can keep the Browns competitive. He may even get hot for a few games. But I can't see a playoff berth happening, as I think the rest of the team is good but overhyped.

Baker won't play another snap. I'm guessing he ends up on Carolina, smaller likelihood Seattle.

Other than obviously QB, our entire seasons comes down to a WR opposite of Cooper stepping up. We need 1 of the 3 to step up: Donovan Peoples Jones, Anthony Schwartz, and David Bell.

Really like both Bell and Schwartz.

I don't see a scenario where the Browns invite Baker back or one where he would accept it if they did. The Browns knowingly closed that chapter when they made the trade and I don't think either side ever looks back.

Wins will depend on coaching. If the offensive game calling is similar to last year 7 or 8 wins with Jacoby. There is certainly potential to be 11+ wins but you have to be a little dumber calling plays. I'd say you need to be smarter but it's obvious the best way to move the offense but I think Stefanski tries getting cute. Just send in some dumb guy to call plays and I think wins will accumulate.

I think  10 wins is the absolute ceiling for Jacoby with this team...   I suppose if the defense is lights out it would be a bit better but they have a pretty tough schedule and division.

As for Baker I don't know the contract details but he is guaranteed money, if they want him to play and he refuses will he get a fine?   If so I feel he would play than if it was going to take money away from his paycheck.   He has a strong feeling of betrayal and it would be hard to persuade him in playing for this team.   IF he does play I thought about if he would just play like **** to spite team but it seems he would be playing for another contract which would curtail that IMO.  Going to be interesting and I kind of want **** to hit the fan just to see what happens and how they handle the situation lol....

I don't think so. I think Baker feels betrayed by the whole Browns organization and would sooner retire (at least temporarily) than play for them again.

If they do have to roll with Brissett as the starter, and they know it soon enough to get him adequately prepared, I think they'll actually do all right. Jacoby is a capable backup who learned from the best. But he won't come to close to what Watson would be as the centerpiece of the offense.

Mayfield is still under contract and would get fined if he does not show up.  Now asking him to play would be interesting because what would you get.  As  @MWil23 mentioned, it is his best shot at getting a good payday in 2023.  He could also be the disgruntled and pouty but that works against him getting a gig in 2023.

I can't believe a team would trade anything for him unless Cleveland ate a portion of that salary.

I think him stepping in and playing lights out would be a nightmare for the Browns.

Here’s the thing on that - all Mayfield has to do is claim an injury, such as a back injury. The team can’t refute an injury such as back soreness or back tightness, and fining a player on that sort of injury would get the NFLPA responding quickly on behalf of an “injured” Mayfield.

It’s what Jalen Ramsey did in Jacksonville - and had Watson not had his legal issues, I’m sure he would have done something similar to sit out as well (but due to the issues, the Texans were more than satisfied to let Watson sit).
