So I was just talking to my friend who is a Steelers fan, and I can't rationalize why they picked Kenny Pickett if they are going to let him sit a year.

So the Steelers are going to be awful this year, right? So they're going to get a pretty high draft pick. Everyone kinda knew that going into this year, unless you are super delusional and thought "we went 11-1 with useless Ben, we can only go up!".

So you go into next year with a stacked QB class, all of which are better than Pickett, but you can't take any of them because now you have Pickett.

Why? Why wouldn't you use this year's pick on someone actually useful then go QB next year?

Because you cannot assume you’ll be in the position to pick a QB the next year?

What did Patrick Mahomes do for a year?

What did Aaron Rodgers do for 4 years?

Seems like it’s not a terrible idea to make sure your QB is NFL ready before you ruin them.

If David Carr sat until the Texans had a team, he probably would have been a good QB.

Shhh. Bears fans don't wanna talk about this. They keep telling me starting him last year was the best choice.
