Not that. The “fix through the draft and supplement through FA”. Screw that. We’re a talentless crap team with cap space. Sign players you know can perform.

Im not necessarily disagreeing with that, but 23 won't be a good year for free agency, thus most of our building will come via the draft.

It’s not good in name value but there’s quality out there. Schweitzer is constantly one of the best rated OGs and will be a FA. A’Shawn Robinson is every bit as good as Payne. RT is actually kinda good. I think we can get at least one starting quality OL and DL via FA, and with the right offer we can upgrade CB1/2/3 from Witherspoon easily.

this dude looked like a disaster during the preseason, but looks like a pro bowl level player this season

he's only 25 too..can be part of the long term solution to the line...

Him and Mason Cole have been pretty pleasant surprises.   In preseason it looked like the entire OL outside of MAYBE RT was going to need to be gutted.   Now, Id be happy with just focusing on the left side.   Put Moore at swing or guard.

OT Andre Dilliard

OT Isiah Wynn

DT Deron Payne

I think we try to draft a #1 CB in round one or two.

My ideal 2023 free agent signings would be something like...

WR Jarvis Landry (mentor role)

LG Elgton Jenkins (Immediate upgrade from Dotson)

EDGE Jadaveon Clowney (should be cheap 1 year)

ILB Leighton Vander Esch (assuming Jack is gone)

NT Javon Hargrave or Payne (better than what we have)

This is assuming we retain Bush, Sutton and Edmunds.

Only one who should cost pretty big money is Jenkins.   Maybe the DTs.

The others should be reasonable deals.

I posted this before, but I'd like to see this:

Ambitious:

DB C.Gardner-Johnson - upgrade at slot and big addition to secondary
DT D.Payne - he'd be a great youngin' to learn under Heyward in his last years
OG N.Davis - under-rated, young, good.
CB R. Ya-Sin - young, tough and full of potential
LB T.Edmunds - could be very good in our D.
WR M.Hardman - he's not 'the answer' at slot but he's an upgrade on Sims

Maybe more realistic:

DB C.Gardner-Johnson
DT D.Payne
OG N.Davis
WR M.Hardman

This is a solid list. Clowney would give me some pause as he is always injured and I’m not sure he would accept a part time role even though it would probably be beneficial for him. Jenkins and grave digger would make me very happy.

not crazy to think we'll be this active in FA due to needs and cap space

a haul like this + the draft. we'll see a very different team next yr. this is what rebuilding looks like

If we got those players, Id go some combination of OT, DL, ILB and DB in the first 3 rounds.   Depending on how things fall, I might double dip at DB, OL or DL.

Best case scenario...we win 1 more game at most, and possibly trade down several spots to stockpile extra picks.
