It might be good for him to take a year for something like this.

What scares me about something like that is he could possibly come here in a role like that, and we could have more success because of his changes....then he would get hired away, and we would foolishly retain Canada even longer.

Thoughts on going after LB Germaine Pratt from the Bengals who is a FA?

26 years old coming off his best season. 99 tackles, 1 sack, 2 INT, 10 PD, 1 FF, 1 FR in 15 games.

From PFF:

“Pratt’s 90.1 coverage grade was the best mark in the NFL. He missed just two tackles in coverage and allowed only four explosive receptions. Pratt didn’t miss many tackles as a run defender, either, whiffing on just 5.9% of opportunities after three straight seasons above 10% to start his career. Last but certainly not least, Pratt also peaked at the right time, with his 90.1 overall grade since Week 8 the top mark among linebackers”.

will canada be  similar to Butler, not liked by many of the fans but kept around for a few years more than expected (just enough to waste the majority of KP's rookie deal) ? Is it true that the biggest fear for steeler fans going into 2023 season is to still have canada?

I feel like it, everyone wants him gone.

Brought him up a few times but I think the Bengals will have the cap room.

Also anyone catch that they are prepared to offer Burrow a contract worth $50+ mil AAV?

if he is that good in coverage he will get many offers.  I doubt we will get into bidding war for a ILB but maybe Khan will? wait and see.  Good tackling and coverage is what we need at ILB though, and add a fast player in the draft would help too.

Like him a lot. Cincy gonna have to find room to pay big money to Burrow, the receivers and improving that Oline.
He might just make it to FA.

It'd be nice to steal B.Powers from Baltimore and Pratt from Cincy.
Unlikely, but it'd be nice.

Interesting note:

$58 mil is what was spent on actual offensive starters. At the $36mil in dead cap (offensively) and it’s the 7th most expensive offense in the NFL.

oh canada:P

really though, how much more has to be proven to get him out of here, just fire him and start over and still be better off. How can they decide to keep him , seriously?

we get better  and in the process they should fall a bit, always good to rob divisional teams of UFA

we hear hype like this, but until it happens it's the media at play. He hasn't even won a SB of all things.

If this keeps happening with QB salaries, lets see if the highest cap QB's  win SB's in a few years.

Maybe in a few years  the league will get to the point where "we can only win SB  while on rookie QB deal" . Is that almost like  Ransom ?

What does that have to do with a musing about the salary cap?

Bengals have over $60M in cap room.  They will resign him
