Hope Jacoby plays well in his last game as starter. He's done well all things considered and I hope we're able to keep him as a backup beyond this season.

Other than that, there's legit nothing to look forward to with this game.

Jacoby priced himself out of being the Browns back up. The amount of money they invested in Watson, feel like the back up QB is going to be a drafted QB. Jacoby has great outplayed exceptions. I could see him going to a team who has a QB on a rookie deal and he goes there.

I think you’re right and it’s why we wanted Kellen Mond.

His salary will also factor into the comp pick formula.

His salary this year is 4.5 million, his OTC valuation is 34 million.

That said, I believe his next contract will be much closer to his salary than his 2022 value.

We also have Conklin, Hunt and Clowney on expiring contracts and won't likely sign anyone of importance so we should get decent comp picks. Just gotta make them work out or trade them for higher picks.

I dont think the Browns will be getting any comp picks from this upcoming offseason. There are way too many holes on the defense that they can just assume to be filled with draft picks and low level FAs. I would want to see them move on from just about every DT and safeties they have. I believe Clowney is gone unless he takes a very friendly deal to play with Watson. Also would like to see a decent LB signed to pair with JOK.

I know they are losing the likes of Clowney, Jacoby, Conklin, and Hunt but I also think they need to make enough moves that they cancel out. If anything, they get the low level comp picks, I dont see them getting any 3rd rd ones

all true but I also think there is enough holes on the defense that they will need to make a few decent signings that I dont think they will get that 3rd or 4th rd comp picks

D’Earnest, Greedy, Winovivh, AJ Green, Chris Hubbard and Takitaki are also FAs.

Unfortunately we won't have the cap space to get top tier free agents unless we do a lot of restructuring from contracts we just did last year which means you have to throw extra cash and our issue is 2024, 2025 and 2026 so that seems unlikely. We will have some carry over into next year but we only have an estimated 4 million before draft picks get signed and we will need to bring carry over into 2024 because we are over 250 million that season with just 30 players signed.

We will be looking at players who have trouble signing because of injuries, trouble off the field and etc... at a good value, I think that is the only way you get a good free agent although it will come with a risk.

Our core players are set. It's just filling the roster for the foreseeable future. We paid the positions we found valuable and we paid them at a rate that shows we don't value the other positions (DT/LB) highly.

It doesn't look like our formula worked otherwise Watson would be joining the team in a playoff race instead as a bottom 5 team in the league. We already have gotten decent QB play and are still a bad team so I doubt Watson will suddenly make it a good team, let alone great as was expected.

Whether you blame the owner, GM, coaches or players it doesn't really matter at this point because the book is already written.

We'll need to catch lightning in a bottle. Have a season where the defense just gets a lot of turnovers to be a real contender. I'm sure we'll make the playoffs from time to time but I don't see us seriously competing with the elites of the AFC.

Well, that'll be uncharted territory for us.

yeah I was looking at a projected salary with the Browns not keeping any of their FAs. I have a feeling like this defense is going to suck!!! Cause you are right, they dont have money to make any improvements really... I have no confidence this defense will be good even with a new DC. I just pray the Chargers just implode and they fire Staley and the Browns are able to hire him. I feel like he could run the secondary properly. That is their best hope, to get a DC who can unlock their secondary to their fullest potential.
