Davante Adams wanted to leave, and AR is a year removed from back-to-back MVPs.

You're still sticking up for these stupid moves?  They crippled the 2022 season by trading Davante.  It made no sense to bring back Rodgers, but not Davante.  Once they decided to give #12 a new deal they needed to retain Adams.  Who cares if he wanted to leave .. it's business, and they could have retained him with a franchise tag for two years if need be.  They missed out on a few 1sts, 2nds and players by giving Rodgers a new deal which now looks like a major overpay.  Terrible work by the Packers front office.

Good luck fitting a $20M cap hit into last year's salary cap.

Please don't give up #7. Please don't give up #7. Please don't give up #7. Please don't give up #7.

Please give up #7.  Please give up #7.  We'll take #7.  Wouldn't worry about it.  Doubt the Raiders would make that move. Maybe a swap of #1's.  So you drop down 8 spots.  Oh and we'll take your 2nd and a conditional pick for next year too.

Might as well throw your hands up in the air and sink a season by shipping off one of your best players .. one that the entire offense revolves around.  Lets replace Adams with Hammy Watkins and some rookie wideouts .. that's going to work just great.  It was a complete bust of a season and some people need to be on the hot seat over it.

Adams should have been signed and accounted for in 2021.  The Packers dropped the ball on getting him inked when they had the chance.  He was a top five player on the Packers and generally you retain those guys .. especially if you are going to roll with a 38-39 year old Qb with trust issues.  The Adams fail basically sunk us in 2022.

Adams wasn't signing with the Packers.  Rodgers wasn't committed to the Packers more than a year at a time.  You expect Adams to commit to staying 5 years in Green Bay with Jordan Love?  No chance in hell.  Plus his mom lives in Vegas.  This wasn't a hard decision for him.

AR's ongoing and public "I might be around" peek-a-boo routine had bearing on Adams decision - it wasnt all a FO failure.

Like now....

The guy's under contract with GB but he's out and about basking in the glory of more "I might be around" stuff - talking like he's a FA. When AR was taught the solar system in grade school....I think he saw himself as the center of the universe.

Adams really didn't have a say in the matter if the Packers would have stuck to their guns and made him play on the franchise tag.  He would have shown up and played or inked a new deal.  I think they could have figured out how to create the space to make that work.  Bottom line .. made zero sense to bring back Rodgers without Adams.  Cost us a season.

Again, you have to squeeze a nearly $20M cap hit into the salary cap.

The Packers aren't into forcing players to stay.  It's not their MO.  When was the last time they franchised a player and made him stay?  They don't.    They work hard on that lockerroom and chemistry.   You are not going to see loose cannon disgruntled players in Green Bay, they ran the Josh Jones and Martellus Bennett types out of there.

We might not have seen it, but the Adams damage was done, and irreparably so, a year before we were aware of it.

Gute had guessed wrong about Adams, he guessed wrong about Rodgers having two MVP years left in him—leading to a trade up for Love, and then he guessed wrong about Aaron’s inevitable decline, leading to a sucky bloated contract for meh QB play.

And I actually think Gute is a pretty good GM. He made some bad calls. The captain of the Exxon Valdez was employee of the month three times. It’s the bad decisions we’re judged on.
