His skillset seems a little redundant with Mixon already there, no? They don't really need another grind it out RB, they need someone with some juice and receiving skills, imo.

This.  Perine is slightly different in that he was a 1 read and go at bhis slowest.  Mixon and zeke both dance waiting for it to open up.  With our past OL struggles, that was not gonna work too often, yet Mixon still had decent to good overall yardage totals because he'd break quite a few.  Zeke isn't doing that either.

We got Nick Chubb by taking on that contract.

Teams should do it more often. Like, if I were a bad team this  year, I 100% would have called up the Colts and asked for their third round pick to trade for Matt Ryan and eat that 12 million guaranteed for them. Then just cut Ryan and let him go wherever.

If the Colts are really interested in competing this year, no reason that they shouldn't do it.

A few years ago I'd agree, but the ability to roll over cap space makes these salary dump trades less desirable.

I think if you're bad bad, it may not make much of a difference. If you're in that first year where 30% of your cap is dead money, then I don't think it's going to make a ton of difference even long term. But I agree for teams that are maybe a couple of years into their rebuild and are expecting a jump shortly
