bucksavage1
NFL HOF being watered down due to recency bias? Look at these names Adam Shefter listed as first ballot HOFs. Majority of these players were good players during their prime but no way near HOF. This is awful. Peppers and Gates are only HOF worthy but not sure 1st ballot Jordy Nelson, Doug Baldwin, Andrew Luck, Jamaal Charles and Connor Barwin etc Deion Sanders has an interesting point here. These players aren’t in the caliber of himself and other game changers like himself
scar988
Those aren't hall of famers. Just guys eligible for the ballot. 2024 is actually a really good year to get some older ballot contenders out of the way. The only guy on there that should be first ballot is Antonio Gates. Maybe Julius Peppers, but if Ware had to wait a year so should Peppers.

He's not calling them first ballot HOFers.

Everyone has to be listed as eligible after 5 years.
Acgott
Schefter is just listing players that retired 4 years ago. The majority won’t get in.

To even have mentioned those players as HOF eligible, is laughable
bucksavage1
My topic is that is the HOF being watered down? There’s guys that Deion mentioned that were very good players but not in his category

He just mentioned eligible players? He never commented on these players getting in, and they won't get in? If you want to talk about the HOF being watered down, mention players that have already been inducted that you don't think should be in.

Revis who just got inducted last night is absolutely on the same level of CB as Deion
General Tso
I've always been of the opinion: if you ask the question are they HOF and you hesitate, they are not HOF.
Superduperman
Deion needs to get over himself but that's nothing new. He openly, not even as a joke, just puts it out there that he never tackled anyone. He was amazing in coverage and with the ball in his hands, but I'll never think of him as a complete football player.
JonStark
And yet Torry Holt still can't get in. 😔

EVERY player is eligible 5 years after they retire, doesn't mean they will get in. Only two IMO with a shot, likely getting in are Gates and Peppers. Both will have to wait. As mentioned above 2024 might be the year the log jam of players (specifically at WR) get in instead.

And no it's not being "watered down" there is a list of players who definitely should be in the hall of Fame but aren't simply because of the fact that they refuse to let more than a certain number of players in each year. Hard to say it's watered down when they have a log jam of guys waiting to get in. Edited February 10, 2023 by rob_shadows
