I'm not going to sit here and condemn them for what they did, as I didn't agree with the decision to not trade him, but commended them for at least picking a direction to go early on and then not holding back and bolstering the team. Thought even if they didn't get in, they'd be close enough that it would've sent message to Ohtani's camp that they were serious and with few small tinkeing moves, could be that playoff team next season. Hopefully that would be enough for them to convince him to resign there. Then they loose every game since the deadline. Now they probably lost Ohtani resigning, already had one of the worst farm systems and it got worse in dealing prospects to get Giolitto, etc. and missing oppotunity to get the biggest return EVER for a rental peice via trade.
