Great analysis tbh

Heinicke is such a fun QB- he's got that magic "it" factor and a ton of heart, and nothing else lol.

It's not saying much if a rookie is improving every game, especially in the last quarter of the season when they're playing for draft position. If Ridder, as an unproven third rounder, plays as well as Heineke in his first full year then that would be a positive development.
Dr A W Niloc
How do you say you're tanking without saying that you're tanking? Smooth move.

tyler735
Probably will be the best QB on the Falcons roster and has a decent chance to get some starts for them this year. Obviously neither Ridder or Heinicke are ideal options at QB though. Seems they will be playing for a top QB next years draft
SoCalDirtyBird
Disappointed in not getting Darnold or Dalton, but Heinicke at a 4.92M cap hit ain’t bad

Heinicke isn't the guy you sign if you're planning to tank. He's going to help them win games they shouldn't. He's over .500 in 24 career starts with us which was basically impossible to do during the Dan Snyder era.

Ridder could obviously improve going forward but as it stands he is definitely the best QB on the roster.
Tony7188
10 million a year for a QB like Heinicke is a steal for Atlanta. There’s been a ton of backup QBs that stole a LOT more money from teams.
ACO
I think this is a smart signing. He is a valuable backup QB. I understand rolling with Ridder. You have to see what he is. but if not you know Heincke can keep you someone afloat.

As you suggest, Heinicke (PFF:38th, DYAR:25th, FPPG:30th) is able to inspire otherwise grossly underperforming talent. That isn't Atlanta's problem. Taylor won't cost much and going from Dan Snyder to, well, any other owner will seem like Nirvana. All of this good news doesn't change the numbers showing Heinicke's playing level and it certainly won't discourage 8-man boxes. Again, if you want plausible deniability while you tank Heinicke is taylor made for you.
