TheRealMcCoy
Still think Denver wins the series in 6, but nice bounce back to take one on the road.

Yeah, this just pushes it to 6 instead of 5 in my mind lol. Though the Heat keep shutting up doubters. Still, I don't think the Nuggets supporting cast has another stinker this big in em. MPJ and KCP were garbage.

BroncoBruin
Miami limiting possessions and shooting more threes is a great strategy and Denver has defended the perimeter poorly. They won’t make every shot like tonight but they consistently got great looks. And Miami is doing a good job defending in transition and preventing easy baskets, slowing the pace to their advantage and limiting Denver’s runs. The Nuggets have the gear to finish this in 6 or even 5 but they need to tighten up in a few effort areas and get more threes from MPJ/KCP/Murray (only 10 in 2 games between the three:). Will be a good challenge for a team that feels ready. Don’t know what to make of how impossible to beat this Heat team is with average (at best) talent. Butler is not close to 100% either. It feels like a Belichick era Pats team, winning at the margins and and executing in close games. Spoelstra is one of the best to ever do it. 11sanchez11
Heat were slipping a lot of perimeter player/perimeter player PnRs, Denver had a lot of issues with it. Especially MPJ and Murray
lomaxgrUK
Nuggets lost the game in that awful stretch at the start of the 4th. Jamal leaving his feet to contest a 30 foot pump fake by Robinson to give up a wide open 23 footer was not ideal, and that started everything. Not seen a moping MPJ game like that for a while. Malone took a very unsubtle jab at him after the game, saying "some of our guys seem to just feel sorry for themselves with their shot not going in". Can still see us getting one on the road. J-ALL-DAY
Duncan Robinson burst to start the 4th quarter ended up being the difference in the game. This team just gives confidence to everyone on the roster and they are always ready for the moment. Very impressive stuff and good little tweaks Spo made....And more than the adjustments, the Heat just knocked down a lot of the shots they missed in game 1. Nuggets were not all the way locked in defensively as they could have just switched a bunch of the actions that they ended up getting burned on. Bam controlled the game well and was making the correct reads and if he continues to do that, they will always have a shot. Love it, on to game 3....... Yup Bam is the key. He played great the first couple of games against Boston too though and then fell off when they came back. Hope he keeps this up the rest of the way. I'm still not getting my hopes up, but stealing home court and getting Herro back really makes things interesting.

The Celtics often times just switched and trusted White, Smart, Brown etc to hold their own and they did just that. Bam's one on one game, especially in the post is less than ideal. The Nuggets aren't going to switch out with Jokic, even though he did defend Butler well on the last possession. Spo has his guys running multiple off-ball actions to get the looks he wants and it's beautiful to watch. If the Nuggets are not going to switch, then this is what is going to continue happening all series. Unless the Nuggets start to lock in more, it's going to come down to the Heat making their perimeter shots or not. If they do, this series is about to get very very interesting. This series is a basketball purist's wet dream. Nuggets and Heat both play the game the right way and both, but especially the Heat, have amazing continuity with their core players and coaching staffs that give them such a great chemistry to watch on the court as well. Chess battle between the coaches is going to continue to be interesting, Spo found something with the slip screens as @11sanchez11mentioned, they were getting open shot after open shot out of them. They still haven't been able to completely effectively attack the basic PnR defense, mostly due to Jimmy not hitting any of the short middies yet tbh, but they're creating so many open looks out on the perimeter that if they keep shooting the lights out, as they've been doing all postseason, they give themselves a shot.

Denver needs to just switch a lot of those actions especially when it involves the wings but they aren't communicating well and that is leading to a lot of open shots for Denver. MPJ over helped on a Jimmy drive in the 4th quarter for no reason when he was at the baseline and allowed a wide open three. The Heat will make you lock in for all 48 minutes. Obviously they aren't the most talented of teams but they are well coached and have a team with 8-9 guys that can go for 20+ any game. That's huge. Butler is going to need to start hitting on the mid range pull up. He was taking some of those jumpers against Milwaukee but for some reason is being hesitant right now. Once he gets comfortable taking and making those shots, I'm interested in seeing the adjustment Malone makes. Gordon going over those screens with Jokic in the drop coverage or just continuing to go under? Miami is going to have opportunities every game to get a good amount of open looks with how Denver plays them but it is going to come down to Butler taking over more and being aggressive. They won yesterday with him having a pedestrian game but they will need him to go off in a game or two like he did against the Bucks.
