You’re welcome.

Still don’t have the full 53 prediction but Davis being out and Big Dog going to Chicago, Pearson’s slim possibility of making the roster just gained a few pounds. I’m here for the FB renaissance. Hope we carry one.

After last night, I don't know that it has gotten any clearer for me.

I still think 2 QBs, and 2 RBs.  We can get back any RB that we would cut once the season starts.

I am also thinking 6 WRs now.  Maybe that is easier because Davis is hurt.

I also want all of the CBs and none of the Safeties.  Can we do that?

I see no way we keep 2 RBs even with the rules where you can elevate a practice squad guy. Definitely see 2 QB's and 6 WR's. I think 31 makes the team. I also think we keep 6 EDGE rushers.

Where are we skimping though? Going to go light on guards and just hope? Move Sul to safety, or keep Gaines as a NB/S?

I think they want at least 4 of the ILBs, and I would guess that Tariq Carpenter makes that 5.  He plays teams and has a unique skill set that others just don't bring.

Jon Ford probably played his best game ever last night.  And if we keep him, that looks like 6 DL too.

Perhaps this becomes clearer after next week.

It's a great debate and who knows for sure. Here is how I would build it, I think, as with every year, there are 4-5 spots not decided at this point without injuries. Here goes off the top of my head. If there is a glaring omissio(s) LMK.

QB - 2 - Love, Clifford

RB - 3 - Jones, Dillon, Wilson

TE/FB - 4 - Musgrave, Kraft, Deguara, ?

WR - 6 - Watson, Doubs, Reed, Toure, Wicks, Heath

OL - 9 - Bak, Jenkins, Myers, Runyan, Tom, Nijman, three more

DL - 5 - Clarke, Slaton, Wyatt, Wooden, Brooks

EDGE - 6 - Gary, Smith, Van Ness, Hollins, Enagbare, Cox?

ILB - 4 - Campbell, Walker, McDuffie, Carpenter

CB - 6 Alexander, Douglass, Nixon, Valentine, Ballentine one more (Stokes PUP)

S - 4 Savage, Ford, Moore, 1 more

K, P, LS: Guys we have

@Old Guy Stokes to PUP does get you one.

I like 9 on the OL, but only if we are going risky at guard.  I really want to keep Caleb Jones, Rasheed Walker, and Luke Tenuta on the roster.  Telfort didn't really impress, but he is a guy that I would like on the PS.  I still think I go 10.  Probably Rhyan just to have a guard available.  But I am not in love with it.  Perhaps one of the centers, none of the guys that played center against the Bengals seemed to have problems.

Brenton Cox makes me want a 54 man roster.  We need to keep safeties, we just need to.  I don't think Cox is quite ready, yet.  But he looked promising enough that if I were a team like Houston or Arizona, I might just let him have his growing pains on the roster.  I would also bet that while I think if Cox hits he is at least Enagbare level, but Justin Hollins will be more productive this season.

I also think we may have to keep Jon Ford if he keeps playing like yesterday

Cox is a guy I'm finding a spot for. You don't let EDGE rushers with potential walk. We kept Garvin for 3 years based on athletic ability and no production. Cox can rush the passer.

Had high hopes for Rhyan but he didn't look so good last night.

Does Levitt get a spot due to special teams? That takes away a spot from somebody that can play. I want 6 CB's because one of them can play safety in a pinch.

The good news is we probably have 56 guys we want on the roster rather than 51.

My 53 after the first preseason game:

QB: Love-Clifford

RB: Jones-Dillon

WR: Watson-Doubs-Reed-Toure-Wicks-Heath

TE: Deguara-Musgrave-Kraft

OL: Bakh-Jenkins-Myers-Runyan-Tom-Nijman-Rhyan-Hanson-Jones

DL: Clark-Slaton-Wyatt-Wooden-Brooks-Ford

EDGE: Gary-Smith-Van Ness-Hollins-Enagbare-Cox

ILB: Campbell-Walker-McDuffie-Wilson-Carpenter

CB: Alexander-Douglas-Stokes-Nixon-Valentine-Ballentine

S: Savage-Ford-Moore-Owens-Leavitt

Specialists get you to 53.

Davis injury gets Wilson on the team at ILB due to ST. Ballentine and Leavitt make the team for ST too.

2 RBs, 2 TEs, 2-3 OL on the PS, called up for gamedays in the early part of the season. Injuries will get someone on IR and you can promote Goodson/Wilson/Allen to the active roster then. If a team feels confident in the off field stuff with Cox, I just don't see him making it through waivers so he gets spot #53. Less worried about Goodson/Wilson/Allen getting claimed. Melton, DuBose to PS at the WR spot, Heath/Wicks battle it out on ST for the GameDay active #5 WR.

As far as claims on our end, I would look for a quality IOL, Newman was OK year one, bad year 2 and last night might have been the worst I've seen him. Otherwise I'd roll with the 53 we have at the other spots.

I like this one better than mine, but based on 1 preseason game, I do not want to lose 31 to waivers. Probably an overreaction on my part but that kid has great vision and some wiggle. I also don't want to go into any game with 2 RB rostered, but you are correct, bring one up on game days until the inevitable.

My only question is Stokes. I'd like to see him off PUP soon, so he gets some real work before week 1.

It's Cox vs Wilson for #53 for me, give me rotational EDGE potential vs rotational RB.

actually agree with almost all of this, my only difference would be Hanson-I think they gave Runyan center snaps to prep him for being the backup to Myers if need be.  I think Hanson is gone, probs in favor of a RB that has teams ability (not actually sure who that is)

Well, the ST Incumbent at RB is Taylor. Goodson(injured, I know) was more of a reserve KR. Wilson hasn't been tested at ST yet. Pearson's the only other backfield guy who got ST time but his effectiveness as an actual RB on offense is probably less than Taylor's if it came down to it.
