My only guess is we need a team to protect us from being tied in a two way tie with ATL and put us in a 3-way tiebreaker as the Falcons have it over us obviously. We win that tiebreaker when it's 3-team. It doesn't need to be the Rams though, or ATL could simply lose one of their games and be out. Just use the NYT generator Good find, what I'm saying above is exactly what it's doing. If the Rams lose both and the Saints lose one, it's puts us in a 2-way tiebreaker with ATL. The Rams winning Sunday eliminates that possibility. ATL losing one does the same thing, and Seattle losing does as well. All 3 games are about the same.
