Who was the passing game coordinator last year? Is this considered a promotion for O'hara?

There wasn't a pass game "coordinator", only a pass game "specialist."  Whether that's a promotion or not is up for debate.  It just probably means that he'll be taking a bigger picture look at the pass game as a whole, while McCown will specifically work with the QBs.

Actually the TE coach carries the pass game coordinator title.

With his new title, he gets O'Connell's coffee on Tuesdays!

And hey, I'd rather have McCown than Sean Mannion.  🤣

I agree with that, Josh McCown is an up and coming coach, not very proven but had what 16-17 years of NFL experience played with 9 different organizations/systems/all with different coaches....and unlike crappy Sean Mannion, Josh McCown actually had success at the position and actually played real games at times passing for over 17,000 yards and 98 TDs in his long career.

He is a promising coach and putting him at QB coach is a great move.  He was even interviewed for the Texans head coaching job before he got that job in Carolina so clearly the dude is impressive or at least comes off that way.
