Might as well paint the flags Chiefs red because Taylor will be singing those gold slinging hustlers their nursery rhymes... What? The NFL would love that. Striker
Just now, Old Guy said: Serious question, have you ever played team sports at least a high school varsity level? Momentum is real and when you get on the wrong side of it, turning it around it sometimes impossible. Your brain starts questioning things that are usually routine and you are out of sorts. It happens over and over and over. Usually after the team with momentum making a big, boneheaded mistake. To answer your question, yes, had the Lions gone up 17, the 49ers crowd would not have been in the game as much that soon and it would have been near impossible for the Lions to come back. First off - yes. But even if I hadn’t, that does not invalidate the point that you should never be results oriented. We have seen plenty of examples where momentum failed to develop after a bad decision or momentum swinging play. Some teams are more susceptible to this kind of tilt than others. But there are plenty of others who just don’t give a **** when these plays happen.

Detroit didn’t need to outscore SF in the 2nd half. They just needed to match . They got cute, let an explosive offense back in it and got what was coming to them. Sasquatch
I can’t even imagine the agony Lions fans are feeling. A failed quarter away from their first Super Bowl. Well, I guess we Packer fans have experienced some gut wrenching NFC championship games also.
Old Guy
Momentum is a REAL thing in team sports. When you have your foot on an opponent's throat, you don't let up and you don't give them any reason to have hope. Taking the 3 points keeps the momentum in your corner. Them getting a stop, immediately gives them hope and the MONEMTUM! When it switches, you may never get it back. Why give them hope? It played out in real life, in the second biggest stage in football. People trying to defend that decision don't understand you don't play the game on a computer. It's real life with real people. Mazrimiv
I have a tough time jumping on the Purdy bandwagon when he needed GB to drop two INT's he threw right to them, and then turned tonights game by bouncing a 50+ yard goal-to-go completion off a DET DB's helmet. There is no accounting for that kind of luck, and it's not sustainable.

pf9
Brock Purdy has ruined other people named Brock - real and fictional - for me and that includes the Pokemon character named Brock in the West.
Rainmaker90
Plus side for us Packer fans, despite having incredible players on offense Gibbs Sewell LaPorta St. Brown They will always be capped by Jared Goff.
