Just want to say, that after reading the first 20 pages of the Barry hired page.  Kudos to everyone here.  Well except Cwood.  he was the only one defending Barry.

Everyone hated the Barry hire.

Lol the Hafley hire in no way mirrors the Barry hire. What are we even doing here?

I disagree completely.  It is exactly the same.  The Packers fired their defensive coordinator.  Then they hired a new guy for the job.  Exactly the same.

Shut up, Dave.

I take it you missed the dissertation about how teams that run a Shanahan style offense require a Barry style bend and hope you don't break defense?  LOL

Most new coordinators don't have experience calling plays so that excuse is pretty weak imo.

Hafley was a college coordinator and a head coach. That's experience.

Barry was previously an nfl coordinator. That's experience.

The highest Evero and Parker got were position coach level at the time of their interviews.

Based on the experience of the candidates we interviewed I'd say we hired the top guy.  Babich, Parker, Durde, Orr, and Wilson had never coordinated anything, or had head coaching experience.  We might have landed a really well rounded DC.  Now we need to see the production on the field.

the opposite is true. He gets a pass for some inexplicable reason.

It has to be the combine numbers, right?

Savage was good when we had Adrian Amos playing at a high level next to him.  When Amos hit a wall, so did Savage, except Savage was like 25.  It is easy to blame Joe Barry, but what parts of Savage missing tackles and getting beaten in coverage did Barry call?  Did Barry run the "everyone play the run correctly then the safety misses a tackle so they get 13 yards" play?  And in that case, was Barry not playing him to his strengths, which seem not to be coverage or tackling?  Two things can be bad at the same time, not all of it is on Barry.

I think Savage is replaceable.  And if he costs more because he ran really fast one time, in shorts, five years ago, go with the cheaper option.

You can blame Barry for not pounding the table hard enough for quality safeties.  We really do have a clown car full of safeties on this current roster.  At least Gute appears ready to take serious action this offseason in regards to the secondary.
