2024 NFC North = War Zone?

Rams just lost arguably the best defender in the league while the Packers lost no one significant and upgraded their weakest position with a top 5 player. Also the Rams best players on offense(Stafford and Kupp) are getting older and have injury concerns while every player on the Packers offense is young and ascending.

Yea I figured it was a lack of knowing the Rams players and the Packers being a generally more popular team.

Maybe.

Love needs to be paid and it will be a lot.

Like MN of late some longtime key Vets are coming off books next year and have to be replaced by rookies and journeyman FAs.

I doubt McKinney is resigned.  Decisions will have to be made on Clark, Alexander and Jenkins.

Detroit is going to face similar issues. Goff, St. Brown and Decker all have to be paid.

The Packers are in a pretty enviable cap situation even if Jordan Love does break the bank.  The only real notable FAs after the upcoming season are Kenny Clark, TJ Slaton, and Josh Myers.  It's questionable about whether or not Kenny Clark is re-signed despite a $15M dead cap next offseason.  Neither Myers nor Slaton should be overly costly in terms of re-signing.  McKinney is signed for the next 4 seasons, Jaire Alexander isn't a FA until after the 2026 season, and Jenkins is in the same position as Jaire Alexander.  That's at minimum of those 3 playing for Green Bay for the next 3 seasons provided Green Bay doesn't decide to move on.  Kinda weird to be questioning.  Green Bay has plenty of cap flexibility for the foreseeable future.  The 2026 offseason on the other hand could get rather expensive...

What part is incorrect? You'd be hard pressed to find many people that would fight you that Aaron Donald is/was the best defender in the league. Losing him is a massive blow no matter which way you want to slice it. Stafford and Kupp are the the best/most impactful players on the Rams offense(though Puka will make a strong case this year if he improves on his rookie season).

Don't forget about Kyren Williams.

Yea I figured it was a Rams fan not wanting to acknowledge some basic truths.

Well both Puka and Kyren were more impactful than Kupp last year (and were both more impactful than any offensive players the Packers have on their roster).

I love the respect Donald is getting, but no way he was the best defensive player in the league last year. Still an elite player, but that's a bit over the top. But not trying to derail the thread further.

Aaron Jones was JAG last year. Not to mention in Runningback years he's like 36.

He started with 127 yards against the Bears, but messed up his hamstring scoring the second touchdown of that game. He then had hamstring issues for much of the rest of the season, but when he did get healthy in the last five games he went for 110+ in each of them, winding up on 572 rushing over that span on a 5.61 average, against 3 of the top 10 YPC run defenses in the league (with the other two being SF and DAL). Jones  was possibly the best RB in the entire league over that span, which is why he finished 9th in PFF grade despite the injury issues that hampered him for much of the year (which shouldn't be much of a surprise given he has the 6th highest YPC of all time amongst RBs, again despite playing most of his career behind so-so run blocking units). Swift meanwhile finished in 45th.

And all that is before even accounting for Swift playing behind one of the best run blocking teams in the league last year with the 5th and 13th best run blocking tackles, the 5th best run blocking centre, and the 18th and 22nd best run blocking tackles. Jones by comparison played behind a line that were solid at pass blocking but sucked at run blocking - Zach Tom finished 6th at tackle for run blocking him, but after him you've got a Rasheed Walker at 56th for tackles, Josh Meyers at 46th for centers, with Jenkins and Runyan at 52st and 59th respectively among guards.

You can definitely say there is a good chance he might break down in Minnesota based on his age and 2023 injuries, but claiming he was JAG and Swift was better is just another way of saying you didn't see Aaron Jones play much without saying you didn't see Aaron Jones play much.

Kyren Williams is good. Healthy Kupp is arguably the best WR in the league. Large gap between the two

The best WR in the league? Kupp would be WR4 in the NFCN behind Jefferson, Moore and St. Brown.

A halfback was more impactful than Jordan Love? And if you don't count QB, which doesn't make any sense but I get the feeling you'll cop out there, then Zach Tom was a very highly graded tackle last year.

Any offensive player on the Packers?

I'd hardly call Aaron Jones a JAG last year.  Injury-riddled?  Absolutely.  A JAG?  Just ask Dallas.

I'm not even sure Kupp is the best receiver on his own team at this point.  lol.
