Penix looked disappointed because he knows that it made no sense and that he’s most likely not going to start for a long time, which is crazy because he’s probably the most ready QB and he’s going to be 24 years old soon. He’ll be 28 when Cousins’ contract expires. Wild move by the Falcons.

I'm thinking the Falcons grabbed a guy who can sit if Kirk really plays well . . . But if he has another injury or setback, they have a guy  the can roll with.

Looks kinda familiar. I'll be praying that JJ follows the same career trajectory.

Can you guess who the QB is?

That’s Aaron Rodgers. 🙏🏼 If McCarthy sits for a year and learns the offense, I think that he has a chance to be special. I’d be very surprised if he plays at all this season, and I’m fine with that. The Packers have proved time and time again, that sitting a QB until he’s ready is the right move. McCarthy is only 21 years old, so it makes even more sense to be patient with him.

he couldn't have done it without clear intel from around the league.

he wasn't guessing at how the picks were going.

I don't think it's a secret that teams do other teams favors in the draft.

If the rumors are true, the Jets didn't have to let the Vikings know that the Broncos and/or Raiders were looking to get their pick for a QB.

I'd bet that there's a lot more intel sharing between teams that we'll ever be privy to.

Love Tommy but it's not like this would be a "OMG he took #9?!?! That's Kraemer's number!" situation like it would have been if it were Brees.

I get what he's saying though lol

I've never been a Tommy Kramer guy...I think Wade Wilson earned #11 more than Tommy ever earned #9.  Ha!

There was no reason for the Jets to not go to the Vikings to see what they would give up

I'm not a huge fan of the pick, but I'm glad the team didn't throw away a bucket of 1st round picks to make it happen. I'll cheer for McCarthy and hope for the best. I anticipate he'll spend '24 learning how to be an NFL QB in the KOC system. He'll probably get his opportunity to work with the team's top receivers in '25 training camp in preparation for becoming the #1. I think he'll have a long career in the league, because he has most of the tools.
