Raiders Trade WR Davante Adams to Jets

Wow talk about getting something for almost nothing, one single 3rd round pick that could be a 2nd rounder?  That is kind of a joke honestly even if Adams is 31 years old.  Curious why it was so little.

But this move does not get Jermaine Johnson off IR, does not make Tyron Smith or Morgan Moses younger, does not get Reddick on the roster either.  Will be curious what it does, sure Rodgers loves it because he adores the guy but Rodgers is still Rodgers.

Lucky for them not a super hard schedule coming up outside of Pittsburgh maybe and the Texans will be the hardest team they play the rest of the year.  Play New England and Miami twice and Jacksonville, Arizona, Indy etc...

I don't think this fixes anything, since the essential problem with the Jets is "the places where we expected they would be good were not as good as we were expecting."  It is very funny to look back to before Aaron Rodgers was traded to the Jets to see all the talk about the "Jets' weapons."

When were the Packers ever supposed to be going on a Super bowl run in what they themselves called a 'reset' year to set them up for the next several seasons, with one of the youngest teams the league has seen in decades?

The talk was that they were doomed to years of picking in the top 10 now that they didn't have a hall of fame QB to prop up their lacklustre team and overrated coaching staff.

It has been a lot of fun seeing how those predictions have worked out.

Is that why yall spend so much time trolling the Raiders and Jets fans about their GM? You guys make it sound like Gute has never made a mistake

Wow what a huge move for the Jets but the most this can do is make them dangerous spoilers. They still aren't SB bound. I don't get the people acting like this was a dumb move because they're all set at WR. Yes they have other needs but you take what you can get.

The money

Isn't it only like under $12 mil this year which there are 14 WRs this year paid more.

He has an out after this season then after that he is owed around $35 mil per year for two seasons and is a free agent again in 2027.  Guess that would be the bad part.  Still compare that to what the Panthers got for DJ Moore, granted he was younger without a contract, but could argue he is not as good as Davante Adams.

He's affordable this season, yes, but his current contract make acquiring him likely an 11-game rental. Not many teams are willing to move much more than a 3rd for a rental player who isn't going to be in their longterm plans.

What the Raiders should have done is make the Jets throw in Malachi Corley in the deal, talk about wasting that guys talents, if he was on another roster I bet he could be doing pretty well right now but obviously Rodgers hates rookie WRs or at least did in Green Bay the older he was.  Mike Williams is also kind of a waste on that roster also.

Rodgers just wants his old buddies to throw to and since Lazard is not nearly as good as he used to be they had to get Adams.  But that will hurt Wilson's development, sure could open some things up but will greatly decrease his targets.  And again Adams cannot block and those tackles are getting old and not so good anymore.

So you think he takes that out?  Is that an organization "out" or a personal player out?  Because pretty sure Adams wants to say in that deal and make $35 mil the following two seasons.

If it is a team out of course no one wants to pay him that even if he is good again, doubt he will be that good.  If it is a team out yeah that makes sense, then even more reason why the Raiders should have got far more than one freaking draft pick for him.

If you're talking about spotsrac, It's an out for the organization.  It'll still have dead money associated with it, it's just noting that cutting a player at that time will cost significantly less than retaining them due to the structure of the contract.
