Paul Bretl - Although I would say Runyan has been more steady, my guess is that when Bakhtiari returns, Newman continues to get the start at right guard. For starters, there is the continuity. While there has been a lot of shuffling along the offensive line this season, Newman and Turner on the right side have provided stability. Runyan also has only 22 career snaps at right guard, compared to 586 at left guard–that’s not everything, but it is something.

Newman has been on the field for 307 pass-blocking snaps and allowed four sacks along with 12 total pressures. His run-blocking grade ranks 79th out of 80 eligible guards, and take it as you wish, but his overall grade is the seventh-worst among all guards this season.

Runyan has been on the field for 266 pass-blocking snaps this season and has allowed two sacks and 13 pressures at left guard. As a run-blocker, by grade, Runyan ranks 51st out of 80 eligible guards.

Jon Runyan and Royce Newman both 24 are young ascending offensive lineman. Bakhtiari return and Jenkins move back inside simply improves depth and competition between Runyan, Newman and Patrick - remember Newman can play center as well.

The simplest, with the least moving parts would be to move Jenkins back to LG, however their is a strong argument for getting you 5 best offensive lineman out their each and every week. The versatility that each has developed strengthens each player and even more the team. It also creates options for the coaching staff in deciding who starts and moves to make if any of the young guys are struggling any given week.

Such a great piece to add. I can't believe the dude was just sitting at home...

Agree. Cant say where the player talent ends and Barry's influence begins - but it's working out for us. He's been the most influential ILB we've had in awhile.

Why?

In 5 games per game stats:

5.8 solo tackles, .6 TFLs, .4 QB hits, .2 INTS, .4PBUs, .4 FFs

What about this screams Defensive Player of the Month?

Dont know. Maybe it was a down month for the other NFC players.
