So what exactly is the timeline in the Cook exodus from Minnesota?

Is it just as simple as they think Mattison is better?  At that point, why release him? He costs 5 million and change against their cap to not play for them.  ...

Cook was $14 cap hit.  Taking $5M dead cap saved $9M.

Was looking at the Packers dead money situation which led me this information:

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space

Of the 8 teams with the most dead money, 7 are in the NFC. Of the 10 teams with the least dead money, all are in the AFC. Coincidence? Different philosophies in the 2 conferences? I'm thinking it might be connected to the fact that most of the top young QB's are in the AFC. They might feel they don't need to spend big to win now because they'll have their QB's for a while. Thoughts?

So, who needs a running back?

I have a feeling he will wind up with the Bears, but I'm not sure how GM Poles views that spot.  He let Montgomery go, but their starter is a decent Khalil Herbert.  They have draft ammo and cap space.  Taylor is really good and would be a massive upgrade.
