The Vikings on Friday signed defensive tackle Dylan Bradley, who was on their practice squad last season.

Bradley, an undrafted rookie last year out of Southern Mississippi, spent the preseason with the Vikings before being let go at the start of the regular season. He was then signed to the practice squad. Bradley was placed on the practice squad injured list on Jan. 9, shortly before Minnesota’s first of two playoff games. He became a free agent after the season.

According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Pat Elflein’s surgery was deemed a “100 percent success” by surgeon Dr. Robert Anderson and Elflein is expected to be able to take part in some portion of offseason work with the team this spring.

Elflein was injured when Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan tossed guard Mike Remmers to the ground. Remmers landed on Elflein’s planted ankle, which caused the fracture.

The Vikings are reportedly set to add to their offensive line by signing a player away from one of their NFC North rivals. Alex Marvez of Sporting News reports that offensive lineman Tom Compton is expected to sign with the team assuming he passes a physical. No terms of the deal have been reported.

Compton, who grew up in Minnesota, entered the league as a sixth-round pick in Washington in 2012 and spent last season with the Bears. He made five starts and appeared in 11 games for Chicago. Compton has experience at both guard and tackle. The Vikings have a pair of free agents from last year’s line — right guard Joe Berger and reserve Jeremiah Sirles — so Compton would give them some needed depth at the least in the event neither one returns.

hate to sound like any sort of the bad guy here but, I don’t think Zimmer sounds bad at all here. He basically was asked every week of Sharifs status, he was constantly saying nothing, finally he just said he couldn’t depended on him playing. Used to Floyd not being healthy, and could depend on the other guys being there an able to play.

While none of this is Floyd’s fault. James Andrews’s messed up his knee, what were the Vikings as an organization supposed to do? Go ahead and pay him again this year for not playing for another year? Of course he got on the field and injured himself playing, but he went ahead to choose his own doctor, and that doctor made the mistake on his knee. The extra damage came from the doctor.

Floyd trained and rehabed in the Vikings training facilities after this yet. Was still paid by the Vikings until they were able to get out of his contract.

After signing kicker Kai Forbath this week to one-year deal with a base salary of $790,000 and guard Tom Compton to a one-year deal with a base salary of $800,000, the Vikings have about $19 million of salary-cap room left.

I think they’re actually still well over $20M. They were over $21M before the two signings mentioned here.

Cap space is calculated based on the top 51 contracts the team has that year. Adding 2 vet minimum deals pushes their 2 lowest caps hits from the top 51 (according to Over The Cap, could be Sloter and Cayleb Jones) below the cutoff.

Since Sloter and Jones were counting $480K each against the cap, Forbath and Compton only take up and additional $320K or so each in replacing them when calculating the team’s total. Net change roughly $650K. By OTC’s page that means they’re almost exactly at $21M remaining.
