What exactly is the love for Archer again?  3+ years of a 4+ ERA with that home park and generally solid defense behind him?  Just because he's cheap(ish)?

3-4 win pitcher that's pretty cheap through 2021. But yeah, he's really not worth what the Rays will want for him at all. He's being treated like an ace, but he's about to be 30. He pretty much is what he is, even if he has good stuff.

Archer is somewhat overrated because of 2015. He's basically a two pitch pitcher that's a number 2 in a decent rotation and a number 3 in a good one.

uh... he struck out over 11 per  nine in 200 innings last year, if youre going by era only youre doing it wrong.

Under contact for three years. Two options after next year.

Braves are very interested in him, and I wouldnt be surprised if a deal is struck. The Braves showcased Gohara today in AAA and he pitched very well.

wonder if gohara/wentz/allard/cumberland or jackson gets it done.

Thats a top 50 guy, two guys prob just outsid ethe top 100 but have legit upside if you could figure out how to fix them and a lottery ticket catcher.

So Bowden is reporting that the Marlins said no to Robles and Keiboom for Realmuto.

The Marlins are very, very silly if this is true (but also if it's not tbh). The only rationale I can think of is that they already have Brinson and aren't focused on actually getting value.

Nothing to fix with Wentz or Allard, and that trade would be a no. If Atlanta gets Archer, a good position player is going to be given up, along with a top pitcher.

allard lost his velo and wentz also has reports of his velo being down, and hes not striking anyone out. if you really think theres nothing to fix then that drops their value considerably. youre too slow to adjust to guys you were high on.

and maybe the insist on a positional guy, but they are pretty loaded there tbh. having both allard and wentz weakens the offer though, prob woukd have to have a 2nd higher upside arm like anderson.

So, clarification, it was Spencer Keiboom, the backup catcher, not his brother, the top 100 prospect.

Ahhh that changes this at little bit.

tbh they should still take Robles.

Maybe. Finding a catcher who can hit like that is really rare. The Marlins might be thinking they have leverage until after next season's deadline.

But Realmuto is worth a 60+ prospect and other good parts.

Giants are willing to listen to offers on Cutch. His season stats don't look great, but some advanced stats would suggest he's been unlucky. He has the highest line drive rate (25.3%) and highest hard hit percentage (45.5%, which pretty much crushes his second highest of 40%) of his career.

I asked same question and got this....

Quote

For Archer's career, he's thrown 48% of his pitches against teams in the AL East. Here are his splits for different metrics

ALE vs Rest:
ERA: 4.02 / 3.40
wOBA: .311/.293
K-BB% 17% / 20%
HR/9: 1.12 / 0.88
SwSTR%: 11.8 / 13.5
Chase%: 26.9/29.5

Needs a relocation.

Doesn't tell the whole story, but seems a prime time for a relocation.

That said, I'm still not sure I want him. All depends on the price.
