Will the Yankees give up Sheffield for Archer???

Me thinks not. Should they is another question.

Speaking of Sheffield, why are the Yankees so hesitant to give him some run this year?

They are having him work on seperation in velo between his fastball and offspeed pitches. Without an emergency they are waiting for him to click that in.

These 2 trades better not be the only ones Luhnow make by the 31st.  Need a LF'er.  I would prefer Dietrich from the Marlins.  Get a proven closer as well.  Rondon cant be trusted.  If Luhnow doesnt make any more trades then he clearly not serious about repeating as WS champs.

Really won't be surprised at all if Chris Archer is dealt by the deadline. He's under control through next year, and the Rays seem to err on the side of trading their pending FA guys 6-12 months too "early" instead of trading them right as they have to. There's also more of a market for Archer now than there has been in the last year. Yankees, Dodgers, and Brewers are reportedly in on him. The Brewers feel like the best fit among those three teams.

He helped y'all win a WS last year, yet you've been going in on this man like he's got the record of Hue Jackson. xD

Under contact for three years. Two options after next year.

Braves are very interested in him, and I wouldnt be surprised if a deal is struck. The Braves showcased Gohara today in AAA and he pitched very well.

The Cardinals figure to be a real darkhorse in the mix for Archer.  They've long rumored to be intrigued by him.

What exactly is the love for Archer again?  3+ years of a 4+ ERA with that home park and generally solid defense behind him?  Just because he's cheap(ish)?

3-4 win pitcher that's pretty cheap through 2021. But yeah, he's really not worth what the Rays will want for him at all. He's being treated like an ace, but he's about to be 30. He pretty much is what he is, even if he has good stuff.
