Jon would be kind of a terrible king imo

But, Jon is a king now. He's King beyond the wall. Mance Rayder saw the qualities needed, and Jon is now that person.

Some of the shots they gave us this season were no less than outstanding.

Bingo - knock the story if you will, but the visuals of it all (save for Winterfell) were the best you'll see outside of a Disney movie.

yep, that a good point.

away from all those political mummeries.

Jon is back when he belongs, like Tormund said. The real north.

Listen to Tyrion’s speeches to Jon and the counsel again. He went over everything they needed in a ruler. This included someone who would not be obsessed with wielding that power. Bran understood that, flat out told Tyrion he didn’t want it, but accepted it knowing that his not wanting power would allow him to step back and let those equipped to handle specific tasks do so. That’s why he showed up to the meeting, said hello and then let them all work on the projects themselves.

Right. If I can impose some "reality" into a fictional character......I think Tyrion would make for an excellent peacetime leader. He's like Tom Hagen - not a good war time Consigliere. He continually made bad decisions by underestimating the ongoing violence around him.

Now - in theory at least - peacetime will reign - he'll go a good job.

LOL

If you don’t think this includes who ends up on the throne and why, you’re a lost cause.

What youre not showing the slightest ability to grasp. Is that HBO had the ability to end it any way they wanted. George said so himself. They could use his way, they didnt have to. They could do whatever they wanted.

What youre not getting is that Im saying is that they could have left it wide open for spinoffs instead of sticking themselves with 5 prequels.

Yup, Jon is now focused on ruling for what's right for all, not for what's right for others.

Part of me wanted to see Tormund bend the knee, but that's not their way - following him into the unknown is about as close as they'll get, but it speaks volumes.

So, you don't see the spin-off potential here? Jon beyond the wall, Bran looking for Drogon, Sansa ruling a new country, Arya heading further West?

This ending is basically wide open.

I liked Jon + Tormund + The Wildings going back outside the wall. It was like winter was finally over, and there was a dream for spring.

They even hinted at it with the blades of grass from the snow...

Bran wasn’t convinced by Tyrion. Tyrion was convincing everyone else. “All Knowing” Bran knew the kingdoms needed the calming presence he brings that Tyrion was talking about, and knew that Winterfell needed to be ruled by a Stark. He couldn’t be convinced to rule Winterfell because he knew that isn’t where his presence was needed.

Gendry was a pretty damn chill guy. With both Tyrion and Bran counciling, her would have been the most ideal candidate.
