Titans TE Delanie Walker dislocates ankle - likely out for season

Recommended Posts

This is a big time injury for the Titans. They're really going to need one of the receivers to step up now.

And so begins the Jonnu Smith era.  Unfortunately, it looks like it might also begin with Blaine Gabbert as the driver.

Definitely not.

Also, it took me one day to remember that I actually hate football. 39,705 posts on a forum about something I truly despise. What a sad existence.

Bummer, he’s a great player for them.

I was actually looking forward to him passing Frank Wycheck as the all time yardage leader for the tight end for Oilers/Titans.

Might as well be. I had sort of the same injury (profile pic taken after doctors tried to pull it back into place) and I have never fully recovered, mostly because the leg is an inch shorter and theres a lot of bone on bone action going on.

Obviously Walker is a superior athlete and the injury might not be as bad, but the nature of the injury is something which takes a while to recover fully from. Its not like the injury Darby sustained last year.

I know he was good last year and has been for a while but an injury like this plus another year fighting Father Time will make things tough for him to be a top TE like he is

Gruden would say he's got at least 5-6 more years left in the tank.

On a serious note, that's a gruesome injury.    And given his age, while he'll recover, almost certain to lose some long-term lost quickness / explosion.   At that age, any decline is concerning.  We'll just have to wait and see, but it's a down note for sure.

No Walker, and Mariota dinged up.   What a start for the Titans.
