Has Flacco been Wally Pipp'd?

John Harbaugh isn't going to continue to play Lamar Jackson over Joe Flacco. We'll find out most likely this week, as it's expected that Flacco will be cleared for practice and then Harbaugh will make the call and we'll find out come Sunday. Why would you stick with an offense that's been averaging 100 more yards per game, converting 15% more of their 3rd downs, punting less, scoring more points and holding onto the ball longer when you can throw with Joe Flacco 50 times a game?!

Ravens played the Raiders and Bengals D isn’t really that impressive.

And yet our offense was still more effective than at any point prior in this season, despite also not facing any real tough defenses before that. Furthermore, moving forward we're still not facing many tough defenses so what does this matter?

I was going to say because your not playing two of the worst Defense's in the NFL moving forward? Then realized your next three opponents are ATL, KC and TB. Jesus!

since baltimore is in the playoff hunt, they will go with the guy that gives them the best chance to win.

they play the falcons, who dont have a great defense. maybe a good idea to do is use packages with both qbs (though not on the field at the same time)

could light a fire.

The only possible reasoning for Starting Him over Flacco is in hopes the RPO/QB Runs keep those 3 Offenses off the field with Time of Possession. Otherwise, LJ's not outscoring those teams via the Pass! He can't, right now! That's obvious.

Given the 3 Defenses coming up the schedule couldn't be more favorable for Lamar to start/"succeed" So it is an interesting dilemma. Still doesn't mean he's the better choice.

We're not beating any of those teams if we get into a shootout, no matter who is at QB. Our best chance to win is to limit their possessions and control the ball and ToP. Lamar's offense is the only one that's been able to do that.

To get back to the question - yes. He's going to have a market when he's let go by Baltimore, so he's not going to be out of work for long.

Will he?  I suppose he could be an upgrade someplace like Buffalo.  But he's clearly not cut out for this NFL anymore.  He's at or below replacement level.

He's not a penciled in starter anymore, but he's "seat warmer" worthy. If someone like the Giants or Jaguars get a guy like Dwayne Haskins and give him a year on the bench to learn the pro game, you could certainly do worse than give Flacco the gig as the opening act at QB while the rookie gets set.

He's not going to set any sort of "highest paid player" type contract, but a 1-3 year deal akin to a Sam Bradford/Ryan Fitzpatrick type journeyman deal is feasible.

EDIT - depending on the future of Alex Smith, Washington seems like a reasonable fit.
