bananabucket
Sorry this is off topic but this is your most active thread and I didn't want to start a new one. Is Houston at this point of his career an every down player, or is he just gonna be a pass rush specialist? Last year we had a complete JAG playing on 1st and 2nd down so I'm hoping that will be improved along with the pass rush. I hope he stays healthy.

He's definitely good against the run. I think when healthy he's still one of the best pass rushers and his numbers just don't look that impressive, because he dropped into coverage for us more often than i would have liked. From time to time motivation might have been a problem, but he was always on fire in the big moments of the game. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in that 12-15 sack area next season again and he's certainly still getting a lot of pressures. I'm interested to see him playing as a 4-3 DE, but i think he can fit into that role.

He's honestly a better run defender than pass rusher, actually, despite his reputation.
mayanfootball
Houston was abused by our last DC. Instead of pass rushing, he was asked to be a "quasi CB" and provide downfield pass defense, which was stupid. Add in his insane salary and you now know why he's gone. He's still an above average player, could even be great still. Saw a lack of motivation from him at times despite getting paid well. Run defense wasn't as great as usual, pass rush was hit or miss, but clutch. he's still an every down guy, just DPOTY candidate anymore
chiefs82
Add Ogbah to the mix for Murray
mayanfootball
Good trade for the Chiefs. Eric Murray wasn't growing in his safety position. KC gets another piece to their rebuilding Oline/front 7. I see SS as a high pick in the April draft. Chiefs 4th rd pick for Browns 2nd.rd. pick Edited April 1, 2019 by mayanfootball
kingseanjohn
Good trade. Now we just need to get something for Sorensen... At this point I'm hoping for Mathieu, Watts, Lucas, and a rookie to be our safeties this year.
KC_Guy
Reading tealeafs here - but with that trade I think Bailey is gone.

That's a reasonable assumption. AB is from the same draft as Houston. TK is also in limbo. The flagship has a five things article on Ogbah (who I liked at OSU). https://www.chiefs.com/news/five-things-to-know-about-new-chiefs-de-emmanuel-ogbah 1. For starters, he’s excited to be here 2. Ogbah has spent his entire three-year career with the Browns 3. He’s excelled at swatting away passes at the line of scrimmage 4. Ogbah played his college ball at Oklahoma State 5. He’s originally from Nigeria J
onejayhawk
Keith Reaser signs. He was with us on PS in 2017 and came up late in the season. Last year he was on IR then released to play in the now-defunct AAF. It's a nice depth signing, but nothing major. It says something that Reaser was one of the best DB in the AAF. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/aaf_star_keith_reaser_reportedly_signing_with_chiefs/s1_12680_28798403
valkrei
yea from what I understand he may have been injury prone. However, he looks a lot better now than he used to. A solid budget signing and if healthy is an upgrade in some packages.
